Some new thing that Nintendo is bringing in for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is an item upgrading system in which you collect items scattered around the levels you visit by finding them under things or they will appear after you have vanquished an enemy.
Either way though, it's nothing new when it comes to it being trading system, you use the items you collect to upgrade your items to make them stronger, which is pretty neat for a Zelda game, I love how they are incorporating it. If you still don't know what I'm talking about, Nintendo has released a video showing off the new system.
