Sony is stepping it up a notch by including Augmented Reality into the PlayStation Vita, and Sony did a very good job with it; just watch the video below to be amazed.
Augmented Reality is something I would really love to see take off in the video game world, people are already doing a crazy amount of things with it, things you don't typically see and ways you normally don't play games. But its far from perfect, with the release of handheld video games systems using Augmented Reality, gamers have to rely on the small screen in order to set up all the cards; which could have people tripping over things and increasing your chance on dropping and breaking your system, that's why I'm hoping there are some sort of glasses in the work that will let you see what the system is seeing.
I really do think that Augmented Reality could be a big stepping stone in gaming, but it won't ever replace today's gaming of course. I believe though that Augmented Reality could be implemented into other consoles once the technology is more advance and doesn't need to be confined to a table. I've seen a video where a team made a zombie survival game with Augmented Reality and they used color M&Ms as bombs; it was ingenious and unique.
