3DS Price Cut Will Hurt Nintendo

July 28, 2011

Shocking news came out for the 3DS came out, Nintendo is dropping the price of the Nintendo 3DS and it is a huge drop. The Nintendo 3DS will now be available for $169.99 as opposed to $249.99, which will be effective starting August 12th.

This might be great news for customers, but not for Nintendo. Nintendo will be losing money for every 3DS sold, how much exactly they will lose is unknown on the moment. But I'm sure that the sales for the 3DS will go up and sell more than 710,000 units.

The biggest reason I think the 3DS is not selling as Nintendo planned is because of the game issue. There really are not any games for the 3DS that can keep you busy for a another big hit to come out. Summer is known to be a dry spell for gamers and most publishers launch titles in Fall, so I think the 3DS should have had a later release date. Another reason I believe it didn't do se well is also because of the price. The 3DS might be extremely impressive (for those that don't have their eyes hurt when they play), but it really does cost a good amount of money, almost as much as a home console.

At least now people will be able to afford the handheld, now I definitely plan on purchasing a copy.
