Microsoft and Valve have been partners for awhile when it comes to Valve's games, and until recently Valve's games has been released on the PS3 after a couple of years of Gabe Newell not liking the PS3. The tables has certainly switched since Valve has a better relationship when it comes to Valve and Sony allowing cross gaming whereas Valve is having a harder time with Microsoft.
Valve is trying to persuade Microsoft to lift the restrictions that interferes with Valve releasing updates and free contents to Orange Box owners on the Xbox 360. Gabe Newell has this to say about the whole thing during an interview with Eurogamer:
"The main thing is having Microsoft get comfortable with it and let us do it. Right now, there's a huge amount of updates and free content we've been able to deliver to people who have The Orange Box that we haven't been able to deliver to the Xbox because of the restrictions that have been placed on us on Xbox Live.
We'd love to see those relaxed. Other developers on the PS3 are starting to benefit from Sony's more open approach. Hopefully that will help Microsoft see that's a good strategy for making customers happy, that the barbarians won't tear down the walls of Xbox and turn it into some chaotic wasteland."
So don't worry 360 Orange Box owners, despite being a bad person and getting the Orange Box on the Xbox 360, Valve is trying to bring you some support, so don't think they have forgotten about you entirely.
