Magneto, Wolverine, Wesker And Viper Showing Off Their Colors

September 9, 2011

Since today is Friday, Marvel and Capcom have both released the new color swaps for Magneto, Wolverine, C. Viper and Wesker for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

When it comes to Magneto's costumes, there isn't too much of a change (except for Xorn), but his deafault costume comes from his first appearance in X-Men #1.

Magneto's first new color swap to the game comes from the Eve of Destruction story arc and also has earned the nickname "Grape-neto". I think I'd use this one just because of the name.

Magneto's second new costume is an all white get up that derives from Age of X, which I didn't really enjoy that much.

Returning to the game is Magneto's Ultimate X-Men get up.

Magneto's Mutant X alternate color scheme is coming back with an updated look, the updated look being the giant X on his belt.

If you play MvC, then you know where this comes from; no way would Capcom replace it so they brought it back.

The next character to show off his colors is another X-Men, and he's the best at what he does.

Wolverine's default blue and gold colors comes from Astonishing X-Men from 2004.

Wolverine's brown costumes makes a return in UmvC3.

X-Force or Uncanny X-Force, it doesn't really matter where this one comes from, cause it's completely awesome.

Wolverine's Age of Apocalypse color swap makes a splashing return with his non missing arm though, oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

I really like this green that Capcom put onto Wolverine, it brings out his eyes and claws. This would be the third color to comes fromMarvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems, along side Hawkeye and Dr. Strange. The evil lime Wolvie is wearing comes from his evil copy from the game.

No, you're not going crazy, this isn't Wolverine's default costume with a darker gold, it's actually a slightly different look. This color swap let's wolverine sport all yellow on his legs, waist and torso and comes from Wolverine: Enemy of the State.

Now Wesker is up for his new colors; Capcom wanted to give him as much dark colors as possible to emphasize his villain persona. But you will notice that Capcom does break those rules for a couple of his costumes.

Wesker's default is him sporting all black and leather, let's see how he will stand up to the heat.

Wesker's all white breaks his villain persona which was given to him to fit his scientist persona more than his villainous one.

Capcom decided to keep the white Wesker but give him a browk trench coat and brown boots.

The team behind Wesker's colors wanted to give him a military look, but it ended up reminded them more of Gambit, but with white hair.

Galactus, Magneto, Akuma, and the Green Goblin have something in common - they are all masters at being villains and they wear purple, so why wouldn't Wesker try to match with them and join the Purple Baddies Brigade?

Wesker tries to copy another bad guy in his final color swap, this one being M. Bison from Street Fighter. I think they did pretty well on this one, especially since they got the belt to be pretty much the same.

C. Viper is a fast and nimble character, but gives me no interest to her at all and the same can say with her color swaps for me.

Viper's core color design with her matching purple tie and high heels.

Mismatching pants and jacket is a strange outfit for Viper and the brown hair doesn't pull it together that well at all.

I find the similarity between Viper's new all yellow outfit and Rufus to be hilarious.

Capcom wanted to give Viper a more pop star look in her fourth color scheme.

The villainous approach was given to Viper, just like Wesker, and was given purple and black to match the devious Ursala from Little Mermaid.

Viper's last palette swap is inspired by Clair Redfield from Resident Evil, except that the pants look more like leather than denim, she tried her best to copy the look though!

That's it for this weeks costume roundup, come back next week and I'll try to get you guys the next batch of characters.

  1. What I don't understand is why Capcom is saying Viper's 4th color is a pop star and not Abel. Because that's what it is. Although I really do like her new colors, so maybe I'll try picking her up again.
