2012 is going to be one crazy year for Marvel readers, there are going to be a lot of events going on and a lot of interesting stories will take place. This Wednesday Point One was released, the comic that previews what Marvel has in store for us.
First we were given a glimpse of Nova returning frantically trying to warn others about the return of the Phoenix. It's not exactly told that this Nova is Richard Rider and honestly, this Nova looks a little smaller than the Nova we are use to. If this is Richard Rider, than where is Star-Lord? That's who I'm more interested in!
The second story that in Point One deals with those new and mysterious characters. Well, we found out who they are, where they are from and what their motives are. The five person group are fighters that are fighting against a world full of mutants in order to have the humankind not go extinct. All this doesn't take place in the 616 Universe, this new story in facts takes place on Earth-295 which is also known as the Age of Apocalypse.
The third story tells readers what to expect of Kaine as he travels around trying to prove to himself that he doesn't have to be a monster, but instead he can actually do good and be a hero.
The fourth story told introduces a pair of new heroes and a new villain in the form of a company that plans on doing some sort of evil. The story follows two siblings, Zaoxing (Dragonfire) and Wanxia (Coldmoon), were separated at birth but both thought to be dead from one another. In truth though, a company named Taiji Corp kept kept both siblings separated from one another with lies until they both escaped using their fire and ice powers. From there, the siblings meet up with the Avengers who will need help taking down Taiji Corp.
Dr. Strange deals with a weird turn of events in his story. Strange helps Joe escape a trance-state he is in where he finds out that a mysterious machine lays wait in his future. Strange has no idea what this machine is, but it looks like the Defenders will be involved.
Ultron makes a devastating return as him and copies of himself attacks Hawkeye, Spider-Man and two other people that I can't really identify, one of them might be Punisher but I'm not too sure. The whole area where Ultron attacks the heroes looks shanty and run down, so its safe to assume that Ultron has been around for awhile and that the Avengers were not able to stop him.
All these stories were great and leaves me impatient as I am now forced to wait for an Ultron event and Age of Apocalypse event. It really does seem like Marvel is going back to the 90's for inspiration for their future stories, you've got the Phoenix, Ultron, Scarlet Spider and Age of Apocalypse going on which were big deals back then.
