Newest TF2 Update Celebrates the Year of The Dog

August 2, 2012 0 comments

Today Valve released a Content Update for Team Fortress 2 known as the Triad Pack that gives players new weapons, hats and misc. items as well as announcing a new King of The Hill map that will be released in the near future.

Weapons

Red Tape Recorder (Spy) -  A new type of sapper that instead of destroying buildings, will reverse the building's cycle until it reverts back into a toolbox that can be picked up as ammo. Engies can destroy the sappers but will have to rebuild it where it was sapped.

Flying Guillotine (Scout) - A new secondary for scout, this throwable hatchet will cause enemies to take bleed damage for a few seconds. Long Distance throws will mini-crit and stunned enemies will take full on crits.

Huo Long Heatmaker (Heavy) - This new minigun that will surround you in a ring of flames that will set any enemy on fire in range while deployed, useful for warding off spies. However when you spin-up the weapon it will use 6 ammo per second.

Neon Annhilator (Pyro) - This unorthadox melee weapon for Pyro will automatically crit on enemies that are wet (from mad milk, jarate and possibly when submerged in water) but will have a 20% slower attack and has no random crits.

Hats & Misc.

Human Cannonball (All) - This new all-class hat resembles Crash Helmets worn by Stuntmen, this hat has 3 styles which are regular, adding dragon decals on the side and also adding skater stickers all over the helmet.

Marxman (All) - An all class Misc item that gives the wearer a pair of Groucho Glasses bound together by tape. The item has two styles that gives the item a novelty cigar and one that doesn't have one.

Champ Stamp (Heavy, Sniper, Engineer, Scout) - Be the first class to have a tattoo of a dragon on your arm as well as wearing some fancy wristwear also.

Triad Trinket (Heavy, Sniper, Scout, Engineer, Spy) - Quite possibly the weirdest item in the update, this gives your class an open shirt with a flipped collar and gold necklaces. What makes it weird is that the item has a style that adds chest hair on your character. (except for Scout)

In the near future Valve will also be releasing a new King of the Hill Map named: Kong King, nothing is known about this map except it's gametype and that it will have a Hong Kong theme. Expect this map to be out this month.

Look At My Hats!

September 10, 2011 1 comments

After a couple of hours of failing trades after failing trades, I decided to show off some of my collections for my TF2 characters. Most of these pictures I took are my actual set-up, some aren't my actual set up since I don't play them as much, such as the Engineer, Spy and Heavy.

I just uncrated the Milkman the other day

The Milkman is cool, but it isn't as awesome as my Drably Olive Troublemaker's Tossle Cap, my first hat for my Scout

This is my "Oh shit I'm in trouble" Soldier set up where I leech health with my Black Box and if I have taken too much trouble, I run away via my Equilizer as I sport my Chieftain's Challenge which I got my trading my Team Captain (that's when I didn't know how much the Team Captain was really worth).

I got the Pyromancer's Mask just recently and the Vintage Stockbroker's Scarf brings the whole outfit together. For my weapon set up, I usually light my enemies up, airblast them into a wall and start beating on them with "Mjolnir".

My Pyro with "Mjolnir"
I have an Unusual Confetti Rimmed Raincatcher, but I honestly like my Prince Tavish's Crown more which I also just found in a drop yesterday. I usually use Demo as my mess around class with my Demo Knighting. But if I'm playing a serious game as him, I go with all his default weapons.

Heavy isn't a class I play much, but I equip him with his stylish Hound Dog that I uncrated a couple of days ago as he munches on his Sandvich. I usually go with his bear claws and Brass Beast when I play as him.

Engineer is another class I don't play as, but he's pretty much my Vintage class. The Vintage Texas Ten Gallon was the first hat I ever got. My Engineer is  my "gonna toy with you" class. I lay down my mini-sentry and go do what I gotta do as my enemy is distracted by my mini sentry.

I call my Medic "Dr. Nemesis" named after Dr. Nemesis from X-Men. I need white paint for my Physician's Procedure Mask to make it better and it would be also a lot more better if my Vintage Vintage Tyrolean didn't have the feather.

Sniper is my pride, all the hats I love are equipped to him (Vintage Professional's Panama, Vintage Trophy Belt, Anger, Desert Marauder and Ol' Snaggletooth). I traded someone for the Genuine Anger, and I don't regret it at all.  I painted it with Zepheniah's Greed in the mean time until I get either Noble Hatter's Violet or A Deep Commitment to Purple.

I just got the Desert Marauder a while ago when I combined my Refined Metal, I like the hat but it looks a bit weird on my Sniper.

This is my second favorite Sniper hat, every once in awhile I'll wear the whole Crock-o-Style Kit with my Sydney Sleeper, Darwin's Danger Shield, Bushwaka and Ol' Snaggletooth.

The reason I want A Deep Commitment to Purple or Noble Hatter's Violet is for this loadout. I want to make a Hawkeye themed setup for my Sniper. I'd probably rename my Anger to "Hawkeye Hooded Mask" or something like that, and get another Huntsman and rename it "Trick Shot Arrows"

Where's my Spy?!

Oh, there he is, just being cloaked is all. I don't play Spy much, but this is my oldest look for any of my classes. I normally have the Revolver, I don't even know when I changed it. I got my Vintage Camera Beard when everyone got one, I had two and I traded it before it become Vintage. But I really love how it goes with my Bill's Hat.

I really love how much you can change your classes items in TF2, and I especially love my Sniper's set up; I really want an Unusual for him, possibly the Larrikin Robin, I would love to have that on my Sniper. I'm really trying to get my hats to be Marvel themed, but I am not that great when it comes to stuff like that. So if you guys have any ideas, I'm all ears.

Be El Jefe In Team Fortress 2

A new hat has been added to the collection of hats in Team Fortress 2, this hat being a promotional item and is only available when you pre-order Tropico 4 via Steam. El Hefe is a level 10 genuine hat that is paintable and wearable only for the Scout.

Happy Birthday Team Fortress, Let's Celebrate With A Free Hat

August 23, 2011 0 comments

Fifteen years ago a Quake mod was made called Team Fortress by three people - Robin Walker, John Cook and Ian Caughley. Since then, Team Fortress has been transformed into Team Fortress 2, a game known today for it's crazy amount of hats and items.

Technically Team Fortress' birthday is tomorrow, but that doesn't stop Valve from celebrating early. Today Valve released two free items in order to celebrate the birthday. A birthday hat and birthday noise maker were given to all players. The hat isn't very special since it's the birthday hat in Birthday Mode, but hey, a free hat is a free hat.

Team Fortress 2 Gets New Unusual Effects

August 19, 2011 0 comments

Hats have been storming into Team Fortress 2 for awhile and there is no stop in sight. The same can be said for Unusual Effects for hats also. Unusual Effects are particle effects that pretties up a hat making it unique, but getting an Unusual Hat is pretty hard and rare and Valve has added eight more effects for players to go crazy over.

 Blizzardy Storm

 Bubbles

 Nuts and Bolts

 Orbiting Fire

 Orbiting Planets

 Smoking

 Steaming

Stormy Storm

The only one I like is the Smoking, the others don't really look that great. Along with these new eight effects, the Purple Confetti and Sunbeams have been tweaked a bit. The Purple Confetti is now more noticeable and has a bigger radius while the Sunbeams are brighter.

Pre-Purchasing Dust Gives You A Hat

July 30, 2011 0 comments

Valve is at it again with giving players the ability to obtain a wearable item for Team Fortress 2, this time it's with the pre-order of Dust on Steam.

The Genuine Mask of the Shaman is what you'll be getting with the pre-order that's only wearable by the Demoman. It really is a weird looking mask but I wouldn't mind having it and it's also paintable.

Current TF2 Players Get A Hat [Update]

June 23, 2011 0 comments

On the Free-to-Play Faqs Page, players who have been playing by buying a retail copy of Team Fortress 2 will be getting a hat.

"Q. What happens if I buy a retail copy of TF2?

You will automatically be upgraded to have a premium account and will be given a special Proof of Purchase hat to wear on any character in-game."

No word on when or what the hat will look like, but at least we get a free hat!

Update: We finally got a picture of what the Proof of Purchase hat looks like, its very simple and I'm okay with it. I wasn't expecting anything too big and fancy; I was expecting something like this, like how Valve gave the Cheater's Lament.

Valve Supports Free To Play Games

June 15, 2011 0 comments

Starting today, well, yesterday actually, Valve has ofiicially announced that they will be supporting the listed free-to-play games on Steam:
  • Spiral Knights
  • Forsaken World
  • Champions Online: Free For All
  • Global Agenda: Free Agent
  • Alliance of Valiant Arms
And it wouldn't be like Valve if they did not give out HATS! Each day, starting Wednesday, all you have to do is long in to the games, after downloading and installing of course, and you will get exclusive in game content. Wednesday's game will be Spiral Knights, Thursday's will be Forsaken World, Friday would be Champion Online, Saturday is Global Agenda and Sunday will be ending with Alliance of Valiant Arms. Do not miss any of these days or you might not be able to get the exclusive items; I will be downloading every game till I get all items.

I have played Forsaken World for a few weeks though, and it is a pretty fun game; if you like WoW or hate WoW just because it is WoW, then you will like Forsaken World. It's pretty much like every other MMORPG, but with different classes than you would see in any other MMORPG. Even if you just want it for your hat or whatever you get, I suggest you keep playing Forsaken World, it is well worth it in my opinion.

Update: Well, by doing more in depth studying, I just assumed there would be free hats. I'm sorry I got everyone's hopes up. Hell, maybe Valve will announce that there will be hats. But just remember, it's "exclusive in-game content to those who try the "F2P game of the day"". I should have read it more carefully, my bad everyone.

Update Update: After waiting a few hours, Valve has finally announced that there will be hats for TF2 for the free-to-play games. Starting today, with Spiral Knights, you will be able to get a hat for the Soldier. I have yet to get the hat myself, but it does look pretty nice from seeing a friend have it. Once I have the time, I will play until a certain part in Spiral Knights to get my free hat.

Portal 2 With Hats!

April 19, 2011 0 comments

So it seems like my latest posts have been Portal 2 galore. Well, I can assure you this might be the last one until I get my hands on a copy.

Anyways, what is a Valve game without hats? Nothing! That's what. The TF2 team threw in some hat codes in Portal 2 at the last moment. The hats can be worn by the two co-op bots and that hats that are worn will be:

  • Mann Co. Cap
  • Prince Tavish's Crown
  • Pyro's Beanie
  • Fancy Fedora
  • Master's Yellow Belt
  • Tyrant's Helm
If you own any of these hats in TF2, they will be transferred over and made wearable.
