Minecraft: Pocket Edition Has An Update That Adds New Features

December 6, 2011 0 comments

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is a very basic form of the original game, meaning there crafting, mobs and other features are not included, but this will soon change.

An update for the Android/iOS version of Minecraft is currently in devlopment and will give players the ability to craft items and some other fun stuff! Here is the full list of features being worked on:

  • A new file system – to make sure we can support items and mobs in the world
  • Item system – to be able to pick up items
  • Crafting – we know you want this :) This will probably need some iterations since the interface will be customized for the touch devices
  • Inventory system
  • Mobs – animals and enemies!
  • Optimizing rendering code – we are experimenting with caves but need to make it work better before we are able to release it
  • Clean up of code and overall optimization

There is no official date for when the update is coming out, but it will be here eventually.

MineCraft Pocket Edition Available On The iOS

Minecraft Pocket Edition for iOS devices came out in New Zealand yesterday, but now today everyone else can enjoy the power of Minecraft on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. You can purchase your copy at the App Store now for $6.99, which is better than New Zealand's $9.99 copy.

The pocket edition is a really trimmed down version of the original version, so don't expect to do too much.

Minecraft Pocket Edition has already been released on Android devices, but what about iOS devices? Supposedly a version of Minecraft Pocket Edition will be released the for iOS within the next 24 hours.

Minecraft Pocket Edition is a smaller version of Minecraft where all you do is build and sculpt; there are no Creepers to worry about nor are you able to make new blocks and tools.

For those in New Zealand, you guys can get your copy of Minecraft Pocket Edition for $9.99 right now over at the iTunes store.

For awhile, Minecraft was in works to be released on Android devices, finally the time has come in which Minecraft Pocket Edition is available for nearly all Android Devices.

If you're running any 2.1 or later Android device, then you should be able to play it after paying $6.99 for it. I'm going to be trying to download it on my tablet, and hopefully it will run on my Brilliant Corners ROM for the Viewsonic G Tablet.

Minecraft In The Palm Of Your Hands With Pocket Edition

August 16, 2011 0 comments

Different types of video games are being ported to Android and iOS devices everywhere and Minecraft is no exception, well except for the iOS that is. For all you Android Xperia owners, you are now able to have Minecraft in the palm of your hands.

Mojang, the creators behind Minecraft, has announced that the alpha version (Alpha 0.1) of Minecraft: Pocket Edition has hit the Android Market for Xperia owners for just $6.99; don't worry other Android users, Mojang has stated that in "the near future" is when Minecraft will be available for us.

Along with the above statement, they have also said:

"We have tried to put in the features that make sense for playing on a mobile device while still keeping the core of the Minecraft experience. You will be able to select blocks on the touchscreen or just scroll through them with the circle and square buttons on the Xperia Play device. The first version also supports multi-player on a local wireless network allowing you to create a world and invite friends to build together."

The features that are included in this build are as follows:

  • Ranomized worlds
  • Build anything you can imagine
  • Build with 36 different kinds of blocks
  • Invite and play with friends to your world (local wireless network)
  • Save multi-player worlds on your phone
  • Frequent updates

This port is currently available for all Xperia users, so if you have the extra cash, go buy it! Hopefully, when it's released for other Android Devices, my rooted tablet will be able to support it.
