Technology is constantly changing around us, let's take for example the newly made screen resolution. 1920 x 1080 is now old news considering the new 4096 x 2160 resolution.
Nothing now really supports that high resolution except for some cameras, projectors and a handful of televisions. Soon, a new device will be joining the ranks of devices that can supports the new "4K" resolution - the PlayStation 3.
The PS3 will be getting a firmware updated sometime in early 2012 that will allow it to support 4K images, and that's about it. The technology is new, so don't expect too many things that will support the crazy resolution any time soon, but Sony is preparing the PS3 for when games and movies comes in that size.
