Sorry I have kind of been late to the party for this, but Capcom and Marvel has once again released the alternate color swaps for some of the characters in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.Today we have Thor, Amaterasu, Iron Fist, Vergil and Viewtiful Joe; quite a handful, anyways, let's get to it.
Thor's default color scheme comes from his most recent costume.
Thor's second color swap comes from Thor #378 in which he suits up with his Battle Armor. The armor was given to him after Hela cursed Thor and made his bones as brittle as glass. Because of his disability, Stark helped made part of the armor and Thor had it finished off at Damascus Steel. Too bad he's not sporting his awesome beard in here though.
This one was inspired by Rob Liefeld's Heroes Reborn costume for Thor. One of Hawkeye's palette swaps comes from the same event.
It wouldn't be a costume show off if it didn't some sort of Ultimate Universe related costume. Thor's fourth costume is inspired by his Ultimate counterpart, but with a cape and a winged hat.
If Hawkeye gets a Stark costume from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, then Thor gets one too!
This palette swap would be so damn amazing if it actually weren't a color swap, but instead a modeled costume. Who the hell wouldn't want to play as Beta Ray Bill? At least they tried to make Thor look like Bill as much as possible.
Amaterasu is annoying as hell to go against for me, before I get into a rant, here are Amateratsu's designs.
The first design for Amaterasu is inspired from Take, one of her eight enemies she encounters in Okami.
Capcom took more inspiration from Okami with Hayabusa.
Moving away from the darker colors, Amaterasu sports a dashing pink that was originally worn by Ume, another enemy Amaterasu faces.
Moving away from Amaterasu's enemies, Capcom used a statue that can be seen in Kamiki village in Okami as her fourth color scheme.
We first moved away from Amaterasu's enemies, now we're moving away from Okami. Capcom used the last palette swap off a real dog, how crazy is that? The Shiba Inu is a Japanese dog breed.
Next up on the list is Iron Fist, one of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3's newest characters, which was just revealed not too long ago.
I like how Capcom decided to use Iron Fist's old look with his ten story high popped collar and v-neck shirt that goes down to his waist. Iron Fist was a badass douche before being a douche was douchey.
This is probably my favorite outfit for Iron First, it's so pristine and holy like. I'm glad Marvel decided to stick with it after obtaining the Eye of Agamotto from Dr. Strange's mentor in the New Avengers.
Being a hero means that you're going to have an evil version of yourself somewhere or a girl version, in this case Iron Fist gets an evil doppleganger, which is the base of inspiration for this color swap.
Red and gold was last season. This time Iron First is wearing a cool aqua and blue color, well actually, this isn't really Iron Fist. It's actually the Steel Serpent, a villain of Iron Fist's who once absorbed Iron Fist's powers and used them.
The Steel Serpent strikes Iron First again, but in a stylish purple and yellow.
In a universe far from the 616 universe, Earth 91172 to be exact (Exiles), Luke Cage possesses the powers of Iron Fist, but goes by the name Power Fist instead.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Capcom games, the only one I actually enjoy is Marvel vs Capcom, so I have no idea where Vergil is from. From what I'm reading though, he's a character in Devil May Cry, which makes sense after seeing some of his new color schemes.
Vergil has two different costume designs, one is his normal look (right) and the other is from his Devil Trigger power-up.
The first color swap goes back to Capcom's whole dark colored villain theme, just like what they have done with other villains.
Vergil's next outfit is actually really spiffy, I like it a lot. This design comes from Nero, who appears in Devil May Cry 4.
This design doesn't follow up with Nemesis' meat outfit, this color is from the Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition in which Vergil is a playable character, in which you can fight Vergil as you play as Vergil. When you do that though, the other Vergil, the Vergil that's not your Vergil, is wearing red. Confused yet? Good, let's move on.
This is yet another nice Design for Vergil. Dark trench coats were so last year, apparently Nemesis never got the memo, so Capcom decided to put Vergil in a white trench coat instead of a darker colored one.
Vergil's final color swap is inspired from Darkstalker's Demitri.
Last but not least is Viewtiful Joe, another character that is annoying to fight and is hard to play as, for me at least.
All of Joe's inspirations comes from the universe of Viewtiful Joe, every single one, which are actually really cool designs.
Viewtiful Joe's first color swap comes from his favorite hero - Captain Blue.
Jet Black has an awesome costume design that reminds me a bit of Meta Knight.
Joe's fourth color swap is the Black Emperor version of Jet Black, I don't know why Joe is wearing a dark purple instead of a grey color though...
The next two designs are new for Viewtiful Joe, the first one being inspired from Blade Master Alastor.
Joe has gone girly one us with this last design, he tries on his girlfriend's tights in his last color swap. I wonder what Sexy Silvia would have to say to this.
