Rovio is taking their birds into space this year as the company has announced a new Angry Birds, Angry Birds: Space, game that supposedly won't be like the old game.

Made with new physics and gameplay elements, Rovio will be releasing Angry Birds Space on March 22 this year. The company also managed to partner up with NASA and National Geographic as they are launch partners for the game.

In celebration of Angry Bird's second birthday, a new update has been released that offers players a new bird and 15 levels.

The Birthday 2.0.0 update is only available for the iOS main game version, which is 99 cents on the iPod and $4.99 on the iPad. The 15 levels are all cake-themed, the new bird is an Orange bird that propels any object that it comes into contact with. There will also be a new menu and new achievements included with the update.

Angry Birds Reaches 500,000,000 Downloads

Angry Birds have been sweeping across the world during the past year, sooner or later this part of time will be called the Year of the Angry Bird considering that 500,000,000 copies have been downloaded.

Rovio has announced that Angry Birds has reached it's 500,000,000 download, which is pretty damn impressive. I know lots of people dislike Angry Birds, but you still have to admit that that's one hell of a goal. Also keep in mind though, they haven't sold 500,000,000 copies digitally, because you can get the game for free (I know I did!); I have downloaded the game four different times for my iPod, tablet, PlayStation 3 and PSP.

Angry Birds On Every Console

July 15, 2011 0 comments

Rovio's Angry Birds on mobile devices and on the PSN isn't enough for them, they want to expand to every console. Every console meaning Wii U, 3DS and the Playstation Vita. Rovio's vice president, Ville Heijari states:

"We really haven't looked into the Wii U specifically yet - we haven't announced anything for Nintendo consoles yet. But if you look at the control methods, if you look at the Wii U, I mean that's a really, really natural match, so obviously we're very interested in developing there as well."

"[The 3DS is] a really really interesting platform. Many people doomed it outright as it being somehow gimmicky, but obviously the same thing as with the Wii U: if you look at the 3DS, Angry Birds games would make a perfect match there."

"There's a good opportunity there to do a lot in terms of adding a lot of polish to the graphics and still you get high resolution, you get better frame-rates, you can really do physics-intensive stuff. You can still do the same sort of slingshot game and keep it really engaging and interesting and make it fresh again. And then doing different stuff with 3D graphics and looking at building completely different experiences with more storytelling and that kind of thing.

"We're looking at all the consoles. We haven't announced any particular titles for any console, but we are looking at every console at the moment."

"If you look at the Kinect sales figures they're completely off the charts, and obviously you can't ignore that, and that will, I'd hazard a guess, make the gameplay experience more engaging. The same with PlayStation Move. But still we're looking at making the best possible game for just the traditional control methods and that core audience there. [We're] definitely not going to ignore Kinect and PlayStation Move either."

"The opportunity is there to do so much more. You have all the horsepower. I'd hate to say better experience, but visually more compelling."

Does Ville Heijari care about his fans or is he doing this just for the money? Angry Birds is already huge and I'm sure the greed is kicking in, it just looks like he's trying to milk Angry Birds. I enjoy Angry Birds as much as the next person, but there is a line. Rovio should just move on while Angry Birds is already huge, it's not going to get any bigger as it is now, so they should just make a new IP and move on with their games.
