Miyamoto Working On A New Title

January 6, 2012 0 comments

Recovery after my surgery is so far so good, I've been keeping off my feet lately and been playing Dead Island (I'll try to get a review up and going) and re-playing Metal Gear Solid. Now that I'm doing a bit better, I'm going to start updating The Reading Gamers a little more now; oh how I have missed blogging.

The creative man behind Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda series is working on three different games, two of them being sequels and one being a brand new undisclosed title.

In an interview with Zoomin.tv, Shigeru Miyamoto explains what's going on about the retirement situation from last month. Along with that, the interview talks about how Miyamoto is working on already announced Pikmin 3 for the Wii U and Luigi's Mansion 2 for the 3DS, but that isn't all that Miyamoto is working on; there is a new title he is working on, but what it could be is a complete mystery at this time.

Miyamoto Is Not Going Anywhere According To Nintendo

December 8, 2011 0 comments

Earlier today we brought you the story that Shigeru Miyamoto has retired from his position at Nintendo according to an interview conducted by Wired. Nintendo is now saying that this is not the truth at all though.

"This is absolutely not true," says a Nintendo spokesperson. "There seems to have been a misunderstanding. He has said all along that he wants to train the younger generation. He has no intention of stepping down. Please do not be concerned."

Apparently a misunderstanding has taken place. How it happened or who misunderstood who is currently a mystery at this point. Miyamoto told Wired, " What I mean by retiring is retiring from my current position." It might have been a translation issue considering the interview was conducted with a translator, but it is not quite certain why things were misunderstood.

Miyamoto lovers can rejoice, for Nintendo says that he is not going anywhere; unless Nintendo is now being misunderstood.

Shigeru Miyamoto Steps Down at Nintendo [Update]

December 7, 2011 1 comments

The beloved creator of Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros, Shigeru Miyamoto has relieved his position as Senior Managing Director and Manager of Nintendo's entertainment analysis and development at Nintendo. However it doesn't mean he is leaving the big N for good.

"I'm not saying that I'm going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position,"

Miyamoto will remain with Nintendo and returning to developing on smaller projects with some of the younger blood at the company. He has even said that he might work on his own projects as well, a man of his caliber can do so.

For the past several years, he's been training with younger developers which led him to make this decision.

"After all, if I'm there in my position as it is, then there's always kind of a relationship. And the young guys are always kind of in a situation where they have to listen to my ideas. But I need some people who are growing up much more than today."

Update: It looks like Miyamoto isn't leaving Nintendo, according to Nintendo.

Happy Birthday To A Legend

WOAH! Stop right there, because today is a legends birthday. This man alone has revolutionized gaming, bringing us amazing classics, such as: Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend OF Zelda,Star Fox, F-zero, and Pikmin. He basically is Nintendo. The only thing he may be missing from his queue of games may just be Pokemon.

Miyamoto was born in November 16, 1952 in Sonobe, Kyoto, Japan. He was like a lot of us, he didn't do so good in school, because all the time he was in class, he would draw and draw. He got many of his ideas for games such as The Legend of Zelda, by a simple visit to a cave or forest. It's amazing that two of the most iconic game titles and figures, where made all by the same man, from childish ventures. Continue to bless us with your work, you are an inspiration to many, including myself.

Happy Birthday.

Shigeru Miyamoto plays games a lot, but how many?

Have you ever wondered if game designers even play video games? Do they only play their video games, do they play others as well? How much do they even play them anyways?
Legendary designer, Shigeru Miyamoto recently told Weekly play news, that he plays games on average 10 hours every day. Even at work you can find him playing games nonstop. It's no wounder he makes such good games, he is is always playing new and exciting titles, stirring up ideas just for that next game. This is just his on average game play per day at work as well. He usually has about 7 games on the go, and mainly focus's on 3 games a year. Sounds like he is getting the most out of those games.

Miyamoto Creates A New Character And Pikmin

July 19, 2011 0 comments

Shigeru Miyamoto has stated he wants to create a new character for Nintendo. Along with informing people that a new character should be made, he briefly talked about a new Pikmin game. He has this to say about both a new character/game and Pikmin:

“It’s about time for a new game character. Perhaps this can be delivered next year.”

“Amongst the present promises, I have to finish Pikmin quickly, so production is progressing extremely well”

“[Creating new characters and heroes] was my goal with the Pikmin… the [Wii U] looks good: it is the ideal system to accommodate new types of games and new characters.”

A new character/game for Nintendo is something I would definitely want, along with tons of other fans I'm sure. With Miyamoto's crazy imagination, I'm sure his new inspiration will be something great and memorable.
