Recent Update Allows Players To Play First 20 levels For Free

February 1, 2012 0 comments

Trion Worlds has just released the new Carnival of the Ascended patch for Rift. Along with the update, Trion Worlds has implicated Rift Lite, which allows players to try out Rift for free for the first 20 levels.

“In the past ten months, Rift has evolved at a breakneck pace, through seven massive updates that set new expectations for live MMOs, in features, in content, and in service,” said Scott Hartsman, Rift's executive producer and Trion’s CCO. “We think a Lite edition with no time limit is the best way for players to see what an amazing experience Rift continues to be.”

The Rift 7.1 update includes the following:

  • PvP Improvements - Smoother advancement and better rewards
  • Ascended Weddings - Share eternity with your soulmate, Telara-style
  • River of Souls Chronicle - Undead adventure for two
  • New Master Mode Dungeon – Caduceus Rise
  • Expert Dungeon Overhaul - More options, better loot!
  • Better Endgame Equipment - Improved loot for your endgame Ascended

Now would be a great time to test out the game if you have been interested. I got the game for free but have not been able to play it because a lack of game cards.

Rift

During the week, I was invited to a Rift Beta. If you don't know what Rift is, it is an MMORPG developed by Trion Worlds. If you've every played World of Warcraft or any other MMORPG, then you'll feel comfortable playing Rift. But this is not a cheap WoW rip-off. You first start off by either picking a side: The Guardians or the Defiant. I chose to go with the Defiant side, which is a group of people that don't rely on gods, but technology instead to save their world - Telara - from Remulos and his gang of dragons. Once you start playing the game, you start hard and fast with it's story line.

I first chose my character as a Rogue that specialized in Marksman (ranged weapons) Ranger (having pets) and a Saboteur (explosives). And each level, you get to add points to your Soul Tree, leveling up my Marksman, Ranger and Saboteur.

The game was pretty damn fun and highly enjoyable. And the best part; it's not WoW. The characters, models and textures are more diverse than World of Warcraft and the storyline along with it's game play is way more vast. The only problem I have with Rift is it's 15 dollar monthly fee. If there wasn't a fee, then I would buy Rift without a doubt.

Expect it in stores March 1 and preorder now for a head start.
