Gears of War 3 maps revealed

August 26, 2011

With less than a month away and the game now ready to be unleashed, EPIC games and Microsoft gives us the full list of Gears of War multiplayer maps that will be playable on Launch. All these maps can be used for competitive, horde 2.0 and beast mode.

Gridlock
A fan favorite from Gears 1 and 2 gridlock makes it's return for one last time. Once a bustling tourist spot with grand hotels and sea side cafes, this city has been destroyed from the grips of war. Even the water is now but a hollow crater, a shell of what it once was.

Hotel

A small island resort was popular to the people of Saren, but as the lambent infection spread the tides has overflown the resort as the salt air deteriorated its buildings a well.

Checkout
Keep your shotgun armed at all times on this map. Close quarters combat is key to victory here on this former superstore. Those who played the beta will have an advantage on day one of launch.

Drydock
Once the heart of Seran industry, the shipyard remains empty yet full of goods that were never shipped or sold. The boats that populate this harbor will forever stand still unless the locust and lambent are put down for good.

Mercy
A once bustling town square surrounded by large mountains and structures. This city now feels more like a ghost town.

Old Town
Beta players will be familiar with this downhill map. Team work will be required to be victorious here. Where you and your enemy stands on the field of battle can quickly turn the tides of the game.

Trenches
For those of you who got comfortable with trenches in the beta will have to readjust themselves again. Now featuring and underground tunnel at the base of the hill. This area connects from the two spawn points so camping at your base will be harder this time around.

Overpass
One of the earlier revealed maps, the overpass will feature a crumbling bridge that will serve as safety and high ground when the floods come in. Make sure to get there before you drown.

Sandbar
An observation post for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, they believed it was impenetrable due to the shifting sandbars and unpredictable coastline. It never did fall, it was just simply abandoned.

Thrashball
Cole has the home-field advantage here. this stadium provided plenty of high ground and low ground in the beta. while the blocked off stairway in the stands was useful to keep away from harm, that has been removed to keep players from abusing that safety zone. Two exits has also been added to the spawn to keep people from spawn camping as well.

Which one is your favorite?
