Arkham City Game Of The Year Edition Announced

April 23, 2012 1 comments

Remember that teased image with Harley Quinn? Well, Rocksteady has finally announced what the image is exactly for and that's the Game of the Year Edition for Arkham City.

Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition includes the Catwoman, Nightwing and Robin DLC, the Arkham City Skin and Challenge Map Pack, Batman Year One movie download and a brand new chapter for the game - Harley Quinn's Revenge. The new story line provides new missions and other goodies.

If you want to play the Harley Quinn's Revenge missions, then it seems like you're going to have to shell out more money in order to get the Game of the Year Edition, which comes out on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 May 29.

In case you're wondering, that is indeed the new boxart for Arkham City Game of the Year Edition. I think Rocksteady really wants us to know how great the game is.

L.A. Noire Sequel Won't Happen Soon

February 13, 2012 0 comments

It seems like Rockstar games isn't going to be quick to start production on a sequel to L.A. Noire anytime soon, neither will there be anymore DLC releases for the game.

"While there won’t be any more DLC or additional content for the current release of L.A. Noire (we’re all too busy working on Max Payne 3, GTA V and other games to come), don’t count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future," the company said. "We simply have not decided anything.

"We’re all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series. We don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually – see Max and Red Dead for evidence of that – we have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing."

This quote comes from a Q&A Rockstar had on their website.

Batman: Arkham City Review

October 23, 2011 0 comments

For the past few days I have been submerged in fighting inmates, solving riddles, gliding around and saving the world from Protocol 10 implicated by a crazy psychologist. Batman Arkham City is probably one of the best game I have ever played just because I can do all of that and more.

When it comes to playing as a character that has a stash of gadgets that can do a vast amount of things, he's going to need an entire city to use all of that with no limitations but instead you get part of a city with no limitations, which is just as great. The openness of the game was incredible, you can do what you want there, I can't even state how much fun I had. Throughout half of the game I didn't know that dive bombing then pulling up would give me more speed and altitude, but once I found that out I had so much more fun than I initially did. I would try different tactics on unsuspecting inmates in Arkham City, whether it be sneaking behind them or glide kicking their faces into the cement, either way it's fun.

The gadgets definitely made the game, they all change the style of the game and how you want to go about taking the bad guys out. The gadgets allows you to either create an advantage point above a group of inmates and drop kick them from above, freeze one or multiple enemies, pull a weapon out of the hands of inmates, stun them with batarangs or electrical charges and then there's disrupting their guns without them knowing which then makes them confused on why their guns aren't working. The inmates aren't the only things you use the gadgets on, there are parts where you need them in order to go further into the game. For example, there is one part in the game where you need to cross sewage water, but for some reason Batman is like Spider-Man in his games and can't swim, so what you need to do is throw down an ice grenade and it will create a little ice raft for you in which you use your bat claw to pull yourself to safety.

With all of the gadgets and open worldliness, I forget that there is a story line. The story was just as great, especially the ending. I'm not going to give anything away, but the ending was amazing, it was something you would not suspect at all; it left me with my jaw dropped. The whole story had you jumping from place to place, meeting villain after villain. The whole spectrum of villains introduced were great, I noticed some and the others I didn't even know who they were.

Even if you beat the game, which is supposedly ten hours of gameplay, there is still so much for you to do. There is a handful of side missions you can still do in order to get 100%, and one of those handful contains a vast amount of trophy finding and riddle solving. The Riddler was the fun part in Arkham Asylum and it still is in Arkham City. I spent most of the time trying to solve the riddles and find the trophies, event if it meant to get sidetracked from the main storyline. I have yet to complete all the Riddler's riddles and I haven't done the challenge maps yet, so I still have a long way to go in order to fully complete the game.

The Catwoman parts of the game were definitely different than Batman's. The overall feel of playing as her took me a few minutes to get use to. Her arsenal is very limited and different than the Dark Knight's infinite amount of gadgets. She was different to play as but still fun nonetheless, I really enjoyed how she pretty much moved like a cat.

The only real complaint I have with the game is sometimes the animations weren't coinciding with the controls that I would input. I would tell Batman to counter, and he would either just stand there are continue to punch or when I would tell him to zip line to a gargoyle or edge of the building, he wouldn't do it. Other than that, Arkham City was one superb game; the difficulty of the game was just perfect, it wasn't too easy and it wasn't too hard also. Rocksteady did an incredible job with everything - the story, the characters and the overall fun the game brought. Mark Hamil will also be missed as the Joker, this was another fine role he played as the deranged clown.

Arkham City Launch Trailer

October 14, 2011 0 comments

With four more days until the release of Batman: Arkham City, Rocksteady Studios has released the Launch Trailer showing off Batman's moves and the enemies he will be going against.

One thing I didn't know that made me want to get the game more is that it looks like you're going to be fighting along side Bane, unless you two just have common enemies and are fighting them along with each other.

Go To The Toys"R"Us In Times Square To Get Arkham City Early

October 6, 2011 0 comments

If you're in the Times Square area, then you should definitely check out the Toys"R"Us there, especially if you want to get Batman: Arkham City one day earlier than it's official release.

In celebration of Arkham City coming out, Warner Bros. will be hosting a special event at the Toys"R"Us at Times Square where Kevin Conroy, voice actor for Batman, Jim Lee, comic artist, and Sefton Hill, game director, will be attending.

The first 500 people to make it there will be able to snag their own copy of the game a day earlier than everyone else. That's not the only cool thing you can get also, if you pre-order your copy of Arkham City at the Toys"R"Us, you will be able to get your copy signed by Kevin Conroy, Jim Lee and Sefton Hill, but this will only be limited to the first 100 pre-orders.

Nightwing Alpha Photos And Robin Best Buy Commercial For Arkham City

October 4, 2011 0 comments

Best Buy's latest commercial shows off gameplay of Robin in the upcoming Batman: Arkham City. Robin will be a playable character for the challenge mode when you pre-order the game from Best Buy.

Sorry, for such a bad quality video, it's the best I can find.

Along with that, an update about playing as Nightwing in challenge has also surfaced also. Alpha staged photos have been leaked, so this isn't the final look for Nightwing, Rocksteady could have probably changed his look a bit.

Here are some concept artwork of Nightwing also.

PC Gamers Forced To Wait A Month Before Playing Arkham City

September 20, 2011 0 comments

Sorry to break it to you guys, but Warner Bros. has announced that the PC version Batman: Arkham City won't be released on the intended October 18 release date. Instead, it is being pushed back by a month for an unknown November date. Console versions won't face this problem though, they're still on track with the release date.

No update on why this push back is happening exactly, but Rocksteady was able to release some new screenshots to make it up for us.

Deadshot Shoots His Way Into Arkham City

September 16, 2011 0 comments

Last episode of GameTrailers TV was all about Rocksteady Studios and it's game, Batman: Arkham City. The episode revealed a new character for the game, a character I'm sure no one was really expecting at all.

Deadshot will be Batman's newest villain for the game as the sniping assassin takes out any living and breathing person that roams the streets of Arkham City. Deadshot won't be just a regular boss battle where you find him and deliver some punches, you have to actually track him down and avoid his gunfire as he shoots you from a distance.

Two new gadgets were also announced along with Deadshot, the first new toy for Batman is something Batman picks up from Mr. Freeze - an ice grenade. If you use it against enemies, it covers them in ice and leaves them immobile. It doesn't need to be used just on enemies though, you can use it to get across water if you need to; just throw down the device on the water then bam! You have instant ice to walk across.

The other new gadget is a Remote Electrical Charge, which Batman will carry around like a gun. This will come useful when Batman needs to turn a switch on from across the room, but he can't reach it by hand, so he aims and shoots and the electrical current will turn on the switch. You can also use it on enemies, but it just stuns them temporarily.

Max Payne 3 Still Does Exist

August 29, 2011 0 comments

Rocksteady has released screens of the third installment of Max Payne on their official website. Max Payne 3 was suppose to be released this year but was pushed back to a way later unknown date, and it seems like they changed the look of Max Payne, 'cause I could've sworn the original screenshots of Max Payne 3 had him bald; so it seems like Rocksteady completely redid the game, hence why they've pushed the game back so far.

Green Lantern Blu-Ray Gives An Arkham City Skin

August 23, 2011 0 comments

One more skin has been announced for Warner Bros. upcoming Arkham City which will be obtainable when you get a copy of Green Lantern on Blu-Ray. The skin in question is Batman's Sinestro Corps outfit, when Batman gets controlled by a yellow ring and becomes a Yellow Lantern in Blackest Night.

It seems like it's a good way to collect money that Warner Bros. didn't gain when Green Lantern was in theaters. The Yellow Lantern Batman suit will be a PS3-exclusive skin, so sorry PC and 360 owners! Warner Bros. nor Rocksteady has revealed what the skin is going to look like, but it should resemble something like the picture below.

Green Lantern will be coming out on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 18th, the Blu-ray combo pack will contain:

  • Extended Cut
  • Theatrical Film
  • Maximum Movie Mode with Picture in Picture Pods
  • The Universe According to Green Lantern
  • Ryan Reynolds Becomes Green Lantern
  • Justice League #1 Digital Comic
  • Additional Scenes
  • Preview of Green Lantern: The Animated Series
  • DC-Live

I'm personally going to be saving up for Thor and X-Men: First Class on Blu-ray, I have yet to decide if I will get the Xavier or Charles cover for X-Men though.

Everyone knows that Robin will be an available character to play as in Robin's Challenge Map as a pre-order bonus from Best Buy in Arkham City. And everyone also knows there are tons of skins for Batman in Arkham City also, but Rocksteady isn't leaving Robin out of the skins galore.

Best Buy is offering three skins for the Cape Crusader's trusty sidekick for Robin's Challenge Maps. It looks Best Buy is offering good deals for their copies of Arkham City. The skins are modeled after Robin in Batman: The Animated Series, Red Robin and dark-hooded robin.

Warner Bros. Releases Screenies For Mr. Freeze And Batman

August 17, 2011 0 comments

Following up with Batman's latest villain reveal for Arkham City, Rocksteady and Warner Bros. has released some images featuring Batman and his long time foe, Mr. Freeze.

Mr. Freezes costume reminds me of something that should be in a space movie or game.
