Your Borderlands Save File Benefits you in the Sequel.

July 6, 2012 0 comments

Looks like Gearbox is taking the Valve path and is giving Borderlands' Veterans a special treat in the sequel, if you have a save file of a completed game (not including the DLC packs) you will be rewarded a special in game head and skin for each class in Borderlands 2.

If you played the first Boderlands, you'll easily recognize such characters including the Crimson Lance Soldier (Commando Class), Patricia Tannis (Siren), Sledge (Gunzerker), and the Badass Spiderant (Assassin). Aside from the nifty head items, the skins look awkward except for the Assassin's.

Don't fret if you don't have a completed file, there will be way more Heads and Skins that can be obtained in Borderlands 2 from a handful of ways. You can still get your copy of the original and beat it if those skins are a must have for you. Borderlands 2 will be out September 18th.

Borderlands Gets A Novel This Tuesday

November 20, 2011 3 comments

Borderlands has spawned a novel that will be released this Tuesday for fans to buy that only focuses on one of the four characters you can choose from in the game.

Borderlands: The Fallen revolves around the turret making and healing soldier - Roland. The novel is being written by John Shirley, who wrote BioShock:Rapture.

The following is a description from Amazon:

"His name’s Roland. Soldier class, a former mercenary, he’s on a full-time mission to scrape a living out of the most dangerous planet in the galaxy.

Is he qualified? He’s well armed, he’s ruthless, and he’s tougher than skag hide. And, oh yeah—he’s strapped with some of the most exotic weaponry this side of the Vault, not to mention possessing fists like chunks of steel.

Zac Finn and his wife and young son had better get on the right side of Roland, because a stopover in orbit has turned into a nightmarish fall to the unforgiving landscape of the Borderlands. Zac hopes to find a strange new alien treasure in the Borderlands to turn his down-spiraling life around. But his wife, Marla, and his son, Cal, just want to survive, and reunite, because catastrophe has left them separated by hundreds of klicks. Their chances aren’t good . . . and Roland is all that stands between them and the planet’s kill-crazed Psychos and murderous bandits—not to mention the grotesque primals, giant wyrm squids, insane tunnel rats, voracious skags, brutal bruisers, and ruthless mercs. . . .
An original novel set in the universe of the Rated M for Mature video game created by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games."

How will Shirley make a story from a game that barely had any story? I dunno, and I honestly don't care. I am probably one of the few that didn't enjoy Borderlands as much as others. Borderlands: The Fallen comes out November 22, just two days away. For those that don't want to spend $10.88 plus shipping on Amazon for it, don't forget Christmas is just five weeks away.

Borderlands Gets New Patch On Steam

August 28, 2011 0 comments

Coming September 9, Gearbox will be releasing a new patch for Borderlands for the PC on Steam. The patch will be titled "BTest" and let's Gearbox gather player data that will be incorporated into Borderlands 2.

Randy Pitchford, Gearbox president, says that, “This will allow us to make better games.”along with, “This technology is about increasing the relationship between you and us."

The new patch will let Gearbox know which weapons are being used more or which areas are being visited more. But how those will be incorporated into Borderlands 2 is not exactly known at the moment, it could be that the user's saved game data from the first game will influence the second game.

Remember, this is only available for Borderlands on the Steam version.

Rumor: Borderlands 2 coming next year?

August 2, 2011 0 comments

While no official announcement was made a source close to the project hinted that a sequel to 2008's Borderlands is in the works for 360, PS3 and PC.

Will these mercenaries be returning? Maybe sooner than you think.

While gearbox denied this claim, Publisher Take-two/2k games previously stated to expect more Borderland titles in the near feature.

Sadly this is all the information on the title but expect the announcement to come this month.
