Borderland's First Expansion Coming This Tuesday

October 11, 2012 0 comments

If you've already beaten Borderlands 2 and maxed out your character then get ready to put the disc back into your console because Gearbox is releasing it's very first campaign expansion next week, titled: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty.

The Expansion pack has an indefinite Pirate theme to it and will add new features a new HUB world dubbed Oasis, new enemy archetypes, a whole new vehicle in the form of a hovering motorboat and an unknown form of currency called seraph crystals; and this is only what was Gearbox revealed so far, there could be much more including a new rarity color for itmes, new heads and skins, and even increasing the level cap.

Captain Scarlett will be available this Tuesday on October 16th for $9.99 (800 MS points) or free if you purchased the Season Pass. Be prepared to find lots of booty in this DLC.

Get your Hands on the Mechromancer today!

October 9, 2012 0 comments

Gearbox has promised us a brand new class to play as this October: Gaige the Mechromancer. While she was originally planned to be released on the 18th Randy Pitchford of Gearbox tweeted earlier yesterday that the Mechromancer will be available to download Today. Noone's exactly sure why they've pushed up the date but I'm not complaining, I did get her for free after all. Those who didn't pre-order Borderlands 2 will still have to purchase her for $10.00 (800 MS points) unfortunately.

If you're still unsure about dowloading Gaige, you can check out her skill tree on the Borderlands 2 Website and customize it anyway you want.

To get you fans riled up for the release of Borderlands 2, Gearbox has released the final Launch Trailer for the game which stars the games beloved/hated antagonist, Handsome Jack mocking the game's four playable classes as nothing more than psychopath's looking for gold. It also shows off the first Borderlands Characters joining the new ones in a glorious all out gun fight with the thieves, monsters and other bile of Pandora.

In other Borderlands news, 2k and Gearbox has named and revealed the release Date of the fifth class DLC. Gaige the Mechromancer will be available for Download October 16th on all available platforms for 10 dollars (800 MS points), OR free if you pre-ordered the game at select retailers.

Make sure to pre-order the game today if you want Gaige for free and to pick up you copy of Borderlands 2 tonight at the midnight launch!

Your Borderlands Save File Benefits you in the Sequel.

July 6, 2012 0 comments

Looks like Gearbox is taking the Valve path and is giving Borderlands' Veterans a special treat in the sequel, if you have a save file of a completed game (not including the DLC packs) you will be rewarded a special in game head and skin for each class in Borderlands 2.

If you played the first Boderlands, you'll easily recognize such characters including the Crimson Lance Soldier (Commando Class), Patricia Tannis (Siren), Sledge (Gunzerker), and the Badass Spiderant (Assassin). Aside from the nifty head items, the skins look awkward except for the Assassin's.

Don't fret if you don't have a completed file, there will be way more Heads and Skins that can be obtained in Borderlands 2 from a handful of ways. You can still get your copy of the original and beat it if those skins are a must have for you. Borderlands 2 will be out September 18th.

Borderlands 2 will have a Fifth Class and More

April 8, 2012 0 comments

Gearbox surprised fans today at PAX east this weekend by announcing some new features coming to their much anticipated sequel to Borderlands and by announcing a fifth class: The Mechromancer.

Nothing is known about this new class except her design and her new ability where she can control a giant robot named D374-TP (also known as death trap). The bad news? This Character has yet to be put in development and will be released as post-release DLC. The good news? This character will be free to anyone who just simply pre-orders the game from any paticipating retailer or website. No pricing has been made yet for this piece of extra content but Gearbox's Randy Pitchford said it will cost as much as most DLC, which will sadly be ten dollars.

In bonus news, the developer has also announced that characters will have customizable parts including head parts and other clothing options. These items can be found by completing quests and challenges, leveling up and other means. Additionally, those who played the original Borderlands will unlock an exclusive head and skin immediately.

Finally Randy Pitchford also announced that they will have a $149.99 Special Edition of the game. They haven't announced what's in this edition other than Special Packaging, A Marcus Bobblehead and a copy of the Game.

More of this Special Edition will (hopefully) be revealed soon.

New Borderlands 2 Trailer Shows Off New Footage

February 22, 2012 1 comments

For those who enjoy Borderlands, a new trailer has been released today for Borderlands 2 showing off gameplay, new and old characters.

The new characters you can play as are Salvador, Maya, Axton and Zero; they all seem pretty to have similarities with Brick, Lilith and Roland, Zero though seems to have a different style except for going invisible just like Lilith did.

Borderlands 2 will have new weapons, new vehicles and more guns than its predecessor; 4 player co-op is still available along with a split screen mode for two players. They also changed the look of the skill tree user interface, which looks pretty neat.

You can expect to see the game hit stores sometime this September.

Seems like it's going to be a big disappointment like the first one, but at least it supports split screen, that's something.

Borderlands 2 already has a release date?

December 6, 2011 0 comments

Not much has been shown about Gearbox's upcoming sequel to the role-playing shooter Borderlands, in fact, no gameplay has even been showed to the public except for some leaked footage that keeps getting pulled. However, Amazon.com might have already given us a release date before the developer did.

Borderlands 2 possible box art?

Amazon has made a special holiday deal for those who pre-purchase the game, but the real kicker is that they claim the game will be released on June 30th, 2012. While not official, this could mean we'll get Borderlands halfway though the year. However were a little overdue for some footage of the sequel. You can order the game here if you're interested.

Gearbox Honors A Late Fan By Putting Him In Borderlands 2

November 3, 2011 0 comments

While scrolling through Tumblr I found this really need and touching thing Gearbox did for an unfortunate cancer victim. Michael John Mamaril was just 22 went he passed away from cancer, but a good friend of his wanted to give him a farewell present after his passing.

Both Michael and his friend, Carlo, enjoyed playing Borderlands together, so Carlo wrote Gearbox asking for a eulogy done by the famous Borderlands robot, Claptrap. Gearbox responded by doing the eulogy and going a little farther, Michael will also be inserted as an NPC in the upcoming Borderlands 2.

You can listen to the eulogy done by Claptrap's voice actor at Destructoid.

Gearbox wants you to make their Collectors Edition

September 9, 2011 0 comments

All Hardcore gamers have at least one Collectors Edition sitting in their rooms. They're the latest rage in the gaming community. But as awesome a game can look, sometimes those editions don't sell due to a lack of interesting extras. *cough* Saint's Row *cough*

But Gearbox decided that they want to know what we want in the special edition of Borderlands 2, and they're asking us what we want.

Please nothing Salvador related, we're quite tired of him.

You can submit your brilliant (or awful) ideas on the Gearbox forum, the most popular ideas will be placed into the Collectors Edition of Borderlands 2. Make sure its good, not everything will make the cut.

I'd kill for a Claptrap bobble-head...

14 minutes of Borderlands 2 Gameplay!

September 3, 2011 0 comments

Holy crap I have no Idea how this came up but now you can see official gameplay of Gearbox's sequel! Check it out if it's still up!

So far it looks waaay better than the already awesome first Borderlands. The animations are way more realistic and looks really nice with the Cell-Shaded art style. (Glad they kept that) and a mini map is displayed at the top corner of the HUD making it easier to navigate Pandora. The new menu display is much more detailed and even lets you see the in-game model of your character. And the environment is much more detailed, instead of just vast deserts of brown we finally see green fields, blue lakes and rivers and even snow-capped mountains.

Weapons are more unique looking and some even have special attributes. Tediore guns as he said are crap guns but can be used as grenades and even respawn after throwing. (which is very nifty) Bullets are also no longer made of sponges which means when you shoot an enemy, he'll feel it and will flinch. (As will you if you get hit by a melee attack)

Enemy AI is more advanced. Your foes can scale walls to shoot you from leveled ground and will also dodge your gunfire. They are also more varied, the Nomad, for example, will have a tiny midget chained to the front of his giant shield (LOL). You can just lob grenades at him, or if you shoot the chains and release the midget, he'll turn on his master (maybe), and while hes distracted you can flank him from the side for a brief moment.

Probably the best part is finally seeing a new class, Maya the Siren, who will probably play much like Lilith from the first (I call dibs on her co-op buddies!) Hopefully this will change the mind of certain people *cough*Andrew*cough*

Borderlands Gets New Patch On Steam

August 28, 2011 0 comments

Coming September 9, Gearbox will be releasing a new patch for Borderlands for the PC on Steam. The patch will be titled "BTest" and let's Gearbox gather player data that will be incorporated into Borderlands 2.

Randy Pitchford, Gearbox president, says that, “This will allow us to make better games.”along with, “This technology is about increasing the relationship between you and us."

The new patch will let Gearbox know which weapons are being used more or which areas are being visited more. But how those will be incorporated into Borderlands 2 is not exactly known at the moment, it could be that the user's saved game data from the first game will influence the second game.

Remember, this is only available for Borderlands on the Steam version.
