Dead Island DLC Allows You To Play From A New Perspective

January 16, 2012 0 comments

The first DLC for Dead Island will allow players to see the zombie outbreak on Banoi from a different perspective as they play as Ryder White.

"I always like to think of antagonist characters not as evil, but simply….misunderstood," says Marketing & PR Aubrey Norris. "Ryder White was obviously suffering from a massive case of beast mood in Dead Island, and I think it's only fair we got to learn his side of the story."

The DLC allows the player to take control of the villain, Ryder White and allows them to follow a new story and bash and/or shoot some good ol' zombies. But that's not all that comes with the DLC; the DLC will also include two new blueprints and weapons for players to use against the flesh eating zombies.

The Ryder White DLC will be out on January 31 for $9.99 on the PlayStation 3, on February 1, it will be available on the Xbox 360 for 800 Microsoft Points and on Steam for $9.99.

Dead World Could Be The Name Of The Sequel For Dead Island

November 3, 2011 0 comments

It seems like Techland is ready to make a sequel to Dead Island, but the walking dead aren't stuck on an island as the title may hint and a more global catastrophe.

Teachland has filed a trademark Dead World just today, which hints at a sequel for Dead Island and that the zombie outbreak isn't limited to an island anymore. No official word has been given by Techland if this is Dead Island related or not, but I'll keep you updated when further news is revealed.

Lionsgate Ready To Start Dead Island Movie

September 27, 2011 0 comments

It's no doubt that the first Dead Island trailer got major hype since it's release, that's pretty much why Lionsgate has decided to purchase the rights for a Dead Island movie based on the trailer.

Deep Silver has expressed many times how much they would enjoy a Dead Island movie and how on board they would be with it, they were finally able to get their wish thanks to Lionsgate making it official today. Producer Sean Daniel (The Mummy, Mall Rats, and Pootie Tang) will be overseeing the project, no other cast workers have been announced though.

The official press release states:

"Dead Island is a global brand first introduced through a teaser trailer that told the story of a family on vacation at a tropical resort who is besieged by zombies. Told in a stark, non-linear fashion, the wrenching trailer captured worldwide fan attention and unanimous critical praise upon its debut, receiving over 1 million hits in its first 24 hours online, and nearly 10 million views by two days after its debut. The trailer went on to win the Golden Lion in Cannes at the International Festival of Creativity, the advertising industry’s highest honor, and it was featured by Adweek on their annual list of the World’s Best Commercials."

This would be the first movie ever to be based off of a video game trailer, and hopefully that's the route the will be going. I don't want to see a Dead Island movie, I want to see a Dead Island trailer movie.

Three Official Tracks From Dead Island

Graphics and a well done story aren't the only thing that makes the game, the music is a big contributing factor also, it sets the mood within the game and helps the player determine what's going to come at him or her and Pawel Blaszczak tried his best to capture all that in his music he composed for Dead Island.

Pawel Blaszczak has composed songs for both Call of Juarez and The Witcher, now he's back with Dead Island's soundtrack which can become available in the collector's edition of the game. Techland has released three different pieces of music that is featured in the game.

The only one I'm liking is the third on, Surrounded by Zombies. Hopefully the rest of the soundtrack is better than these, Honestly, Dead Island isn't looking that promising to me except for it's first trailer and the fact that you can customize your weapons to an extent.

New Dead Island Trailer Includes Co-op

August 9, 2011 0 comments

No, this isn't a Smoker

Co-op is a big part in games, in gives players the chance to have fun with their friends or to be a jerk and screw over your friends by not helping them when they're being attacked. Unfortunately, this co-op reminds me too much of Left 4 Dead.

Dead Island's new trailer shows off it's co-op play, and if I really wanted to play with three other friends in a Zombie FPS I would go play Left 4 Dead, and if I Really wanted to, I could go find a tropical themed custom map to play it on.

I'm more most likely going focus more on the single player than the co-op.

Dead Island In Your Hands

Game studio Deep Silver and publisher Bantam has agreed to work on a book that revolves around Dead Island that will debut for the U.K. around the launch of Dead Island.

Horror and thriller writer, Mark Morris, will be writing the book adaptation. Mark Morris has worked on titles including Hell boy and various Dr. Who books. Morris has this to say about his working book:

"Having marveled, like the rest of the world, at the stunning trailer earlier this year, I absolutely leaped at the opportunity to write the official Dead Island tie-in novel. This is a rich, exotic world of well-conceived characters, stunning locations and all-out zombie mayhem. What really attracted me to the project, however, was the fact that behind the nonstop action is a complex and multi-layered plot. I'm hugely excited and massively honored to be a part of the Dead Island phenomenon."

There's no news about it being released in North America, I'm not even too sure if it will be released here at all, but at least we get the game released a few days earlier.

Week Roundup

February 21, 2011 0 comments

I've been quite busy the last past week and haven't been able to inform anyone on some news. So here's a long round up of things that have happened during the past week.

New screen shots of Arkham City has been released last Wednesday, hopefully you guys will get the Black Mask picture.

A lot of buzz has been surrounding Dead Island. The Call of Juarez makers, Techland, has finally picked up Dead Island after a hiatus of three years. The trailer looks absolutely beautiful and sad at the same time.

Along with the game, a rumor has been going out that the publishers of Dead Island are considering a movie adaptation, despite the many zombies movies that are already out. If a movie will happen, hopefully they will bring something new to the table and will not be a typical zombie movie.

As everyone knows, MvC3 came out this week and so far it's doing incredible. I've got my copy for my PS3 practicing until I'm good enough for online play.

If you haven't heard, today is Link's birthday, along with Zelda, Hyrule and other proper nouns in the Legend of Zelda universe. They all turn 25 today, 25 years since it's release in Japan. The Legend of Zelda is a top selling game that continues to grow and will most likely grow even more for God knows how long.

In the world of comics, many 90's kids childhood memories will be coming back at them. Duck Tales will be getting it's own ongoing series written by Epic Mickey's Warren Spector. Watch it hit stores this May, along with tons of near 15-20 year old people drooling over this new Duck Tales adaptation.

The first Fear Itself comic hits shelves March 16 with it's prologue. The prologue gives us the background of Marvel's upcoming event with the comic revolving around the Red Skull. And I've got some previews for you.
