The last issue of Fear Itself was like a roller coaster; at first I was excited, I didn't know what to prepare myself for. Then it went up, the excitement and thrill started to hit me. Finally it started to go down, the excitement was over and the ending was not as great as other roller coasters; the thrill went away too fast.
This was definitely the weakest issue from Fear Itself and it was kind of a disappointment as well. The beginning of the comic was cool though, for a few pages. The coolest part was the fact that it was the final battle, shit is going down, the Mighty is finally going against the Worthy. That was pretty much it though, that was the highlight of the comic.
Actually, there was something else that was pretty cool in this issue. When the heroes of Earth were going against the Worthy, I did like the fact that the news report panels were going on during the fight. It gave the sense of hope and that the people in the Marvel Universe were starting to overcome their Fear and start helping one another.
As for what could've been better, they could have introduced the Mighty in a more awesome and fashionable way instead of just Stark coming in and being like "Alright, here's your blessed weapons. Go get 'em." I would've liked to see more of the Mighty kicking some ass, because that's the point of them being written into Fear Itself, to kick the Mighty's asses. Instead, all we got were pretty much two panels for each hero; there was nothing special about the blessed weapons except for the fact that the heroes' punches actually hurt the Mighty.
Cap can't always fight a giant army with rifles, he's got to find an alternative, especially when his shield was shattered into pieces. I'm guessing that's why Fraction decided to give Captain America the capability of being worthy and lifting up Mjolnir for a second time in Marvel history. I really don't know what to feel about Cap wielding Mjolnir, it's pretty damn awesome that he's taking down some Nazis with it but at the same time it feels off, I can't quite explain it.
The last thing that really bothered me was the whole prochecy between Thor and the Serpent; both are going to die, we knew this for a few issues. Thor has this crazy battle with the Serpent, he was hacking and slashing at the Serpent in his serpent form. By the look of the battle, Thor wasn't having a hard time at all, all the Serpent was doing was holding Thor in his hand trying to crush him. In the end though, Thor crushed Ragnarok into the Serpent's skull this killing him. But the prophecy came true, both died, Thor died. How did he die? I have no idea, and I don't like that one bit; Thor seemed perfectly fine during the battle, he didn't seem weakened or anything at all and then he's all of a sudden dead. I feel as if his death was pretty much Marvel saying, "We need someone to die besides Bucky. Who will it be? Let's have it be Thor! We don't know how he'll die, but just make him die."
This issue had its ups and downs, mostly its downs. The ending could have been done way better in my opinion. The whole series was good, I enjoyed most of the tie-ins with Dracula vs. Hulk one of the best tie-ins. The art was good in Fear itself Book Seven, but the writing couldn't keep up with it; I enjoyed Immonen's throughout the series, everything was crisp and clear. Fraction could've done better, especially with more panels showing the Mighty and a better ending overall.
