Marvel Cancels Black Panther And Ghost Rider

November 17, 2011 0 comments

Marvel has announced some sad news today, Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive and Ghost Rider will be getting the axe. They both will stand next to X-23, Alpha Flight, Victor Von Doom, Destroyers, Iron Man 2.0 and All-Winners Squad as they also were cancelled within the last month.

Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive will be ending with issue #529 and will finish with the Kingpin going against Black Panther. Black Panther's latest run was ended due to low sales in October with Marvel only selling 18,000 copies.

Nine issues after Alejandra became the new Ghost Rider, starring Johnny Blaze as the co-star, her ongoing series too has been cancelled for low sales in the month of October. The official announcement of Ghost Rider's cancellation came from Ghost Rider writer Rob Williams when he jumped onto Twitter and said, "Sorry to confirm the news about Ghost Rider's cancellation. It's disappointing. Thanks to everyone who bought the book."

Unlike Black Panther, Alejandra will be making a return in February during Marvel's mini Venom event along side X-23.

It's such a shame that these two titles got cancelled, I was really enjoying Black Panther and I was excited to see what this new Ghost Rider was going to bring to the table. I'm hoping that no other on-going series gets the axe; too many non-group or non-Avengers related titles are getting cancelled when they don't deserve it at all.

Meet The New Avengers Cast

August 15, 2011 0 comments

It's been known since Comic Con International that the Avengers will be getting a new lineup, this isn't a new Avengers branch like New Avengers or Young Avengers and whatnot, the main Avenger team will be getting a new cast. And this image that was posted during comic con was obviously hinting at the recasting:

Instead of having Iron Man, Hawkeye, Spider-Woman, The Protector, Thor, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and The Red Hulk, the recast will include:

  • Captain America
  • Black Panther
  • Spider-Woman
  • Hawkeye
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Iron Man
  • Vision
  • Spider-Man
  • The Protector
  • Wolverine

So it's pretty much the recent Avengers minus the Red Hulk but adding Captain America, Black Panther and Vision; not very interesting, but at least Hawkeye gets a new outfit that resembles his Ultimate counterpart; he looks like the odd one out with a shirt, some pants and a pair of shades while everyone else is wearing spandex or armor.

Steve Rogers is back as Captain America, but where did he get the new shield when it was just destroyed in Fear Itself #5? And where is Thor, shouldn't he be in the new lineup? I really am wondering if Thor really is going to be killed off, I mean you have Tanarus as the new God of Thunder and Thor's body is being carried off in a preview for Fear Itself #6. Only time will tell if Thor will be killed off and then return after a few months.

Anyways, the new lineup will debut in Avengers #19 with Michael Bendis writing and Daniel Acuna doing pencils. And don't forget that this will be during Norman's return along with H.A.M.M.E.R. and his Dark Avengers.

New Avengers Gains The Daredevil With Osborn Returning

June 11, 2011 0 comments

After Daredevil's meltdown in Hell's Kitchen and his journey of to find himself within 4 issues, Matt Murdock will be making a return to New York as a bonafied New Avengers member. Along with Daredevil's return, Norman Osborn shows his face to the world after being improperly imprisoned due to his attack on Asgard.

You've got the return of a hero and the return of a villain; a perfect way to balance out each other. I am not too sure if this means this is the end of Black Panther being the Man Without Fear, I hope it isn't 'cause I am absolutely loving Black Panther's new change in Hell's Kitchen. I'm sure that Murdock will be too busy hanging with his new team and will continue leaving Panther do his own thing.

Another interesting thing is the whole Norman Osborn coming back in the New Avengers comic, since Spider-Man is a member of the New Avengers, how will he take the news of Osborn's return? Whatever will be going on, we will be able to find out in New Avengers #19.1.

I just realized though, New Avengers will be filled with a lot of street leveled heroes, something Bendis is excellent at.
