Netflix Available On The PlayStation Vita

The PlayStation Vita isn't just about gaming on the go, it is also about music, movies and other media on the go as well by using apps, and Sony has just announced that on app is going to be using is the Netflix app.

On February 22, when the PlayStation Vita launches, Netflix will be available for all owners of both Netflix and the PlayStation Vita, which Sony has announced today at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012.

Netflix Isn't Getting 3D At All

Nintendo said there will me 3D service on Netflix, but Netflix says there won't. That's what everyone believed at least until Nintendo cleared it up for us. The original statement about 3D being on Netflix from Nintendo states:

The new Netflix application for Nintendo 3DS displays movies and TV episodes in 2D on the system’s upper screen. Users will soon have access to an additional library of select movies that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses.

People thought that the whole statement was about Netflix, but in reality, only the first part was. The second part was about the Nintendo Video App that's to come out later this summer. Oops!

The press release announcing the new Netflix service for Nintendo 3DS also references the system's upcoming short-form video service. Nintendo 3DS owners soon will be able to enjoy free, specially selected video content that includes 3D movie trailers, comedy clips and music videos.

Netflix Knows Nothing About A 3D Service

A big thing about Netflix being on Nintendo is the 3D streaming, but Netflix knows has no 3D service for their customers. It seems like Nintendo and Netflix are having some type of communication problem, Nintendo's press release for the the Netflix service states that:

"The new Netflix application for Nintendo 3DS displays movies and TV episodes in 2D on the system's upper screen. Users will soon have access to an additional library of select movies that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses."

Obviously Netflix is the one who will have to provide 3D service since Nintendo has no control over that. But Netflix's vice president of communication, Steve Swasey, says that they have no announcement about a 3D service. 

Netflix says there's no 3D service but Nintendo is offering 3D service, something sure doesn't seem right here. We'll play the waiting game for more news to unfold about this communication problem.

Stream Netflix On Your 3DS...If You Still Have A Netflix

Netflix on the 3DS came out today, now you're able to watch videos on a tiny screen if you have available internet. The quality looks pretty nice, despite the quality of the video below.

Considering Netflix's change of prices, will this Netflix on the 3DS thing be that big? I know its big on terms of that it's on the 3DS itself, but how many people will use it now compared to before the price change? Maybe Nintendo released the app at the wrong time, I'm not saying that this will flop at all, I'm just saying that I find it interesting that Nintendo released the Netflix app after a good amount of customers dropped their Netflix subscription.
