Alan Scott Confirmed To Be DC's Next Gay Character

June 2, 2012 1 comments

Rumors going around that the first Green Lantern, Alan Scott, being reintroduced as a gay character has turned out to be true.

DC has officially announced that Alan Scott will be reintroduced in the DC Universe as a gay character. James Robinson will be rewriting Alan Scott in Earth 2 #2, which is to be out next Wednesday, due to the New 52 writing out Scott's son, Obsidian, out of existence.

“I was sort of putting the team together and I realized one of the only downsides to relaunching the Justice Society as young, vibrant heroes again was that Alan Scott’s son was no longer going to exist in the reboot,” says Robinson. “I thought that was a shame and then it occurred to me, why not just make Alan Scott gay.”

Ubisoft Now Going After John Beiswenger

Ubisoft is no longer facing charges from author John Beiswenger, instead they are turning the tables right back at him and filing a complaint against Beiswenger.

Because Beiswenger ended the lawsuit without prejudice and was able to bring up the lawsuit again whenever he pleased, he was able to give Ubisoft the grounds to go right back at him claiming that Beiswenger's claims were "entirely meritless"

"The plaintiff in the case alleging copyright infringement by Ubisoft has dropped his claim, without settlement," states a Ubisoft representative. "Ubisoft believes this suit was frivolous and without merit, and is seeking a ruling to prevent future related claims. We are proud of our creative teams and will continue to vigorously defend the intellectual property they develop."

Ubisoft is fighting Beiswenger so he will no longer be able to try and file a complaint against Ubisoft ever again.

If you were wishing that Dota wouldn't be a subscription based game, then you should be happy as Valve has announced today via the Dota 2 blog that the game will be free-to-play.

On the blog, Valve states that they have addressed the top two most concerned things, whether or not Dota 2 will be free-to-play or not and if all the heroes will be free to play as or not. Well we already addressed the free-to-play part, and as for whether or not all heroes will be available free of charge, they will be free.

Not only will the game be free-to-play and the heroes will cost nothing, but Valve has also announced that there will be in-game microtransactions and that Dota 2 will be supported by the Steam Workshop. So if you have some great ideas for armor, weapons, clothing and other such things and you would like to see them in the game, then just upload your models onto Steam Workshop!

Valve has also set up a FAQs page for those who need it.

Star Wars: 1313 Announced

Today Lucasfilm has announced the newest Star Wars game and the "Star Wars 1313" that they trademarked is extremely relevant since the game is called Star Wars: 1313.

Lucasfilm is describing the game as a "third person cinematic action adventure" that allows the player to follow the story of an unnamed Bounty Hunter that is a "ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant".

Not much information has been released for the game besides some concept art and the game's plot, which follows:

Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy.  Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.

Don't forget to catch the trailer for Star Wars: 1313 coming out on Monday, June 4.
