Mysterio Behind Spider-Men

April 27, 2012 0 comments

Marvels' celebration of 50 years of Spider-Man is coming soon and Marvel is celebrating Spider-Man's birthday with the Spider-Man mini-series in which 616 and Ultimate Spider-Man team up. But for what reason will they team up? How will they cross paths? Who's going to be the villain that they will have to team up in order to beat? Those questions can be answered with just one name, Mysterio.

"Mysterio is up there with the most dangerous criminals that Spider-Man has come up against," says Brian Michael Bendis in an interview with USA Today

Bendis goes personal when adding Mysterio into the mix due to his enjoyment of seeing Mysterio in comics when he was younger.

"When I was a kid, I found some of his stories to be terrifying. It just got so personal. When he does his thing right, he delves in and gets deep into a psyche that doesn't deserve that kind of punishment."

Mysterio will somehow throw himself along with Spider-Man into the Ultimate Universe where Peter will be seeing the Ultimate versions of his loved ones.

Whatever Marvel is planning will happen this June with Brian Michael Bendis, Sarah Pichelli and Justin Ponsor working together.

Marvel is continuing to tease the next Amazing Spider-Man story arc, Ends of the Earth, with Electro lifting Spider-Man in the air by his throat.

Ends of the Earth focuses on the Sinister Six conjuring a master plan to take over the world, led by the one and only Doc Ock.

Speaking of Doctor Octopus, yesterday another teaser for Ends of the Earth was released that I missed, with this one of Doctor Octopus holding Spider-Man down with his metallic appendages.

Find out what Doc Ock and the Sinister Six are planning in Amazing Spider-Man #682 on March 21, 2012.

Mark Of The Spider-Man Kicks Off With A Treasure Hunt

February 11, 2012 0 comments

Last Wednesday, a Spider-Man viral marketing site made it's appearance for The Amazing Spider-Man. Today more news has surfaced and gives fans a chance to have fun through a treasure hunt.

The Mark of the Spider-Man Twitter feed has been giving out coordinates for different cities all across the US. The coordinates leads people to items that are "Property of Peter Parker". Supposedly these items are set in various comic book stores and SuperHeroHype was able to get their hands on some of the treasure left at a local comic book store.

Mark Of The Spider-Man Is The Amazing Spider-Man's Viral Marketing Ad

February 8, 2012 2 comments

Sorry about not posting as much, I finally was able to gather enough money to get Star Wars: The Old Republic and haven't stopped playing it for awhile, but something has caught my attention and pulled me away from my game for a few minutes.

Thanks to my friend Maurice for showing me this, but someone with clever eyes has spotted something interesting in the latest trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. At the time 2:28 in the trailer, there was a hidden phrase saying "Mark of the Spider-Man". That's kind of weird that that text is secretly hidden in the trailer, but it's even more weird that there is now a website called MarkoftheSpider-Man.com that shows six squares with static, as if they are from a security monitor or something like it, and there is also the Spider-Man symbol that is also in the trailer.

Nothing is known at this time about what is going on, but I'm sure we will find out more information as we get closer to the release of The Amazing Spider-Man on July 3.

I think I'm more excited about this new viral ad instead of the actual movie.

Marvel Teases Spider-Men Image

February 1, 2012 0 comments

A new Spider-Man teaser image has been released, but this one is for the Ultimate Universe as opposed to Earth-616, well partly at least. .

The newest image has Peter Parker's Amazing Spider-Man emblem combined with Miles Morales' Ultimate Spider-Man emblem with text that says, "Spider-Men. June 2012."

Could this possibly be a cross over between the Spider-Men of the Ultimate Universe and Earth-616? or could this be the first image of a major crossover of heroes and villains of both universes? Looks like we will have to wait and see what's going on.

The Sinister Six Returns In "Ends Of The Earth"

January 31, 2012 0 comments

Marvel is bringing back the Sinister Six in The Amazing Spider-Man as Marvel released a new teaser image for a new Spider-Man arc titled "Ends of the Earth."

Dan Slott will be working on Spider-Man's new adventure with art by Stefano Caselli. "Ends of the Earth" will start with Amazing Spider-Man #682 and will last for four issues. The Sinister Six returns with Otto Octavius leading them for a global takeover.

"We've seen Doc Ock and the Sinister Six slowly building and percolating this master plan," Slott said. "On the way it's stretched out into the Marvel Universe proper. We've seen Doc Ock totally smack down Iron Man. He totally wiped the floor with Hank Pym's team in 'Avengers Academy.' Over in 'Spider-Man' during an FF team up, Doc Ock pwned Reed Richards! He took over the Baxter Building and stole all kinds of stuff. Doc Ock's been taking out the biggest brains on his stomp to global domination."

Amazing Spider-Man #682 will be on sale on March 21, 2012.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Could Have Been A Spider-Man MMO

January 20, 2012 0 comments

A new interesting tidbit has surfaced today during a report about Star Wars: The Old Republic in the Las Angeles Times. Supposedly BioWare was planning to make a Spider-Man MMO before it turned into Star Wars: The Old Republic, but it didn't end there, there were other plans before a Spider-Man MMO.

Here is an insert from the report that explains it:

The idea for the game has its origins at a 2005 meeting between Vogel and BioWare’s Zeschuk and Muzyka, two Canadian physicians-turned-game developers. After attempts to adapt “Lord of the Rings,” “A Game of Thrones” and Marvel comic book super-heroes like such as Spider-Man, the team signed a co-publishing deal with “Star Wars” creator George Lucas.

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Producers Sues Ex Director Julie Taymor

January 18, 2012 0 comments

Back in March  Julie Taymor was fired by the producers of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark due to violations in her contract and wouldn't receive any royalties . After being replaced by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), Taymor turned around and sued the producers back in November by saying that the music violates her copyrights. She is also demanding for full credit and pay and is seeking out at least $1 million along with royalties.

Now The New York Times is reporting that the producers are counter-suing Taymor by claiming that she breached her contract when she “could not and would not do the jobs that she was contracted to do,” which forced other crew members to take on those said jobs.

But that's not the only complaint that the producers have about Taymor.

“Taymor refused to develop a musical that followed the original, family-friendly ‘Spider-Man’ story, which was depicted in the Marvel comic books and the hugely successful motion picture trilogy based on them,” lawyers for Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris, the lead producers, wrote in the filing.

“Instead, Taymor, who admits that she was not a fan of the ‘Spider-Man’ story prior to her involvement with the musical, insisted on developing a dark, disjointed and hallucinogenic musical involving suicide, sex and death,” the lawyers continued, referring to Ms. Taymor’s creation of the villain character Arachne.

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was shut down for three weeks after Taymor being fired in order to get things ready for McKinley. The musical eventually cost $1.2 million a week to made and has made $81 million since it's public release in November 2010.

The Amazing Spider-Man Video Game Trailer

October 15, 2011 0 comments

For those who read the 'Short But Sweet News' section on the right side of the blog, you might have noticed that a video game based off The Amazing Spider-Man is being developed by Beenox. Well thanks to my friends titz, he has shown me that there is also a trailer.

I can careless that this is going to be based off the movie, I'm just glad that it's an open world Spider-Man game; I think I'm just going to spend a majority of the time webbing around just like in Spider-Man 2: The Game.
