Mysterio Behind Spider-Men

April 27, 2012 0 comments

Marvels' celebration of 50 years of Spider-Man is coming soon and Marvel is celebrating Spider-Man's birthday with the Spider-Man mini-series in which 616 and Ultimate Spider-Man team up. But for what reason will they team up? How will they cross paths? Who's going to be the villain that they will have to team up in order to beat? Those questions can be answered with just one name, Mysterio.

"Mysterio is up there with the most dangerous criminals that Spider-Man has come up against," says Brian Michael Bendis in an interview with USA Today.

Bendis goes personal when adding Mysterio into the mix due to his enjoyment of seeing Mysterio in comics when he was younger.

"When I was a kid, I found some of his stories to be terrifying. It just got so personal. When he does his thing right, he delves in and gets deep into a psyche that doesn't deserve that kind of punishment."

Mysterio will somehow throw himself along with Spider-Man into the Ultimate Universe where Peter will be seeing the Ultimate versions of his loved ones.

Peter Parker And Miles Morales To Team Up This June

April 11, 2012 0 comments

Peter Park and Miles Morales will be crossing paths this June in a five issue mini series that involves some sort of inter-dimensional problem that causes the Amazing Spider-Man and the Ultimate Spider-Man to meet for the first time.

The news came out when Marvel released an updated teaser image of Spider-Man showing Miles Morales and a new pictures with both Spider-Men swinging around with no masks.

Brian Michael Bendis, who will be writing Spider-Man, also had an interview with New York Daily News.

"For the 50th anniversary of Spider-Man, what everyone was looking for was a Spider-Man story that mattered. Well, here you go," says Bendis. "Someone had once said to me, 'When I was a kid, I could only play Spider-Man, I couldn’t play Batman or Superman because my friends would say you’re not the same color, but I could play Spider-Man because when I fantasized about Spider-Man, he looked like me under the mask,'" Bendis continued. "That was a big inspiration."

New Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes And Ultimate Spider-Man Clip

March 30, 2012 0 comments

Marvel has released two new clips for The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Ultimate Spider-Man which are both premiering this Sunday on Disney XD during the Marvel Universe programming block.

If you won't be able to watch the premieres due to your cable company not including Disney XD, then I feel your pain; I'll be searching for a site to stream it off of the day after both shows are shown.

Ultimate Spider-Man Preview Trailer

March 9, 2012 0 comments

More and more clips and scenes are being released for Ultimate Spider-Man and with this newest trailer we get to see heroes that will be fighting along side Spider-Man.

So far it seems like White Tiger, Iron Fist, Nova (Rick Jones?) and someone else who I can't put my finger on; it could be Power Fist but I have my doubts. Doom will also be appearing in Ultimate Spider-Man.

New Spider-Man Preview And Concept Art

August 8, 2011 1 comments

Not much is known about the new Spider-Man that's taking Peter Parker's place in the Ultimate Universe besides his name. So far, all we've seen of him is his short appearance in Ultimate Fallout #4.

A little more information was given to us during an interview with Sara Pichelli, artist for the upcoming Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1. Previews for the upcoming new Ultimate Spider-Man story arc was shown to the public featuring Miles Morales and what looks like is his family, but he's not sporting the Spider-Man suit at all.

Along with previews, concept art was also released of Miles; he looks pretty different than his conceptual designs, I like how it looks now than Marvel's original ideas.

The New Ultimate Spider-Man Might Be Gay?

Bad things tend to happen when mass media gets a hold of comic book related news, usually they over exaggerate about something or they just completely get their facts wrong. In this case, Mail Online, obviously didn't get their facts straight.

The author of the article says that, "But another surprise could be in the pipeline after his creators said that in the future they would not rule out making him gay."

Last time I checked the USA Today article, which is the only company that talked to Bendis about the new Spider-Man, no one said anything about Miles Morales being gay. The only related thing was when Sara Pichelli, the artist behind the new Spider-Man design, said, "Maybe sooner or later a black or gay - or both - hero will be considered something absolutely normal."

Nowhere does it say that the new Spider-Man will be gay, this is why i generally dislike media getting a hold on comic book related news, they never do it right most of the time.

New Ultimate Spider-Man Revealed

August 2, 2011 0 comments

Marvel has been counting down the days until the new Ultimate Spider-Man identity would be revealed and a lot of people assumed that the countdown was for Wednesday, since that's when Ultimate Fallout #4 will be released. Well surprise! The countdown wasn't for Wednesday at all, Marvel released a picture of Spider-Man's new identity while they talked to USA Today about the new hero.

Miles Morales - a young half-black/half-Hispanic teenager - will be playing the new role of Spider-Man for the Ultimate Universe. His origin will be revealed with Ultimate Spider-Man relaunching in September with a new renumbering.

More Marvel On T.V.

Marvel is on a roll with their announcements this year at San Diego Comic Con. This time, Jeph Loeb, Head of Television, was brought to the stage to talk about Marvel's projects for the television.

The lucky attendees were able to watch footage from both Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season 2. Loeb also announced some some live-action shows that are in development, and they're pretty shocking. The shows will focus around these characters (each one is getting their own show):

  • Jessica Jones
  • Hulk
  • Cloak and Dagger
  • Mockingbird

Who would've ever thought that Jessica Jones will be getting her own show, and what about Mockingbird? Mockingbird might be cool, Cloak and Dagger would be awesome, Hulk as been done before, but Jessica Jones? I don't know how to feel about this, I do want to see it though, just for curiosity; if that's the case, I hope it doesn't flop like Wonder Woman. Loeb does say that some may or may not make it to the screen, but he does talk about each one.

aka Jessica Jones is being done at ABC and will be based on Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos' Alias, don't get it mixed up with J.J. Abrams Alias because they're both different characters. Loeb does confirm that Carol Danvers and Luke Cage will be featured.

Hulk will be focused on Banner and Betty and their love for each other with the setting to be set in the Hulk's earlier years, before everyone knows Banner the Hulk. This show sounds boring, I don't want to watch a show that will be full of romance scenes.

Cloak and Dagger will be featured on ABC Family and will be set in post-Katrina New Orleans.

Mockingbird is also going to be on ABC Family, Bobby will be depicted as "a Peter Parker Nerd" as she's getting into S.H.I.E.L.D. Hopefully some other characters will be shown in the show.

Loeb then moved away from the live-action and moved onto the animated shows. He announced that Ultimate Spider-Man will be on Disney XD next year. After then, he showed the audience footage of the show. Unfortunately there's no footage of it, I wish I could see it though.

Hulk: Agents of SMASH is another television animated project that Marvel is working on that will also be featured on Disney XD.

The first episode of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season 2 was premiered in which it showed the Fantastic Four hanging out with the Avengers at the Avenger's Mansion as Doctor Doom is the protagonist in this episode.

I'm pretty much excited for all of this, minus Hulk and aka Jessica Jones. I can't wait for Avengers to start up again and see the Fantastic Four for more than 5 scenes. I would love to see Marvel get their own television station though; they'd be able to show all T.V. shows Marvel has done, which is quit a big amount considering that they have shows focused around Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men (X-Men TAS, X-Men Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men) Spider-Man and whatnot. I'd watch that station 24/7 though

Ultimate Fallout #01

July 15, 2011 1 comments

I've said this once, and I'll say it again, Ultimate Spider-Man is one of my favorite comic series and Ultimate Fallout is an excellent issue to prove that. Ultimate Fallout is a six issue miniseries that follows the aftermath of Death of Spider-Man written by Michael Bendis and penciled by Mark Bagley, both Michael and Marc have been working together since the beginning of Ultimate Spider-Man, and thanks to them both, it got me back into comics since it was first released.

Issue one of Ultimate Fallout was a great comic if you're looking for something that will get you to tear up a bit; it was short but extremely great. Everyone from Parker's household is grieving in their own way as Mary Jane is trying to find out who was responsible for Spider-Man's death, which she believes is Nick Fury. I don't blame her, if it weren't for Nick Fury trying to take back S.H.I.E.L.D. (which he thinks is rightfully his), then Punisher would never have taken the shot at Cap.

The one scene that got the waterworks going was when Aunt May was walking into the church of where Peter's funeral was behind held and a little girl asked her if she was Spider-Man's mommy.

Michael Bendis knows how to do Ultimate Spider-Man and with that, he knows how to do the right emotions for each character within the comic. This is probably one of my favorite comics that's Ultimate Spider-Man related, the Death of Spider-Man was great and it's follow up is starting to show great promise.

Ultimate Fallout Preview

July 12, 2011 0 comments

Peter Parker is no more in the Ultimate Universe, but does that mean the end of Spider-Man? This Wednesday we'll find out what is in store as the story of Spider-Man's death continues in Ultimate Fallout.

So what does Bendis have store in us for Spider-Man? We know that Spider-Man isn't done with.

Who is this mysterious person wearing a new and improved Spidey outfit? There's speculation that it might be an Ultimate version of Miguel O'Hara, if that is the case, then things would get extremely interesting; I would love to see how they would introduce a new character and Miguel's new background and definitely see if he has the same attitude as he does in Spider-Man 2099.

My favorite panels are the one with Jonah and Jonny, I got chills when I first was reading the preview; I've always been drawn so deeply in Ultimate Spider-Man, it is probably one of my favorite things Bendis has done, even though his writing with other titles aren't the greatest things.
