New Information For The First X-Men Released

During the weekend Marvel teased The First X-Men and said that more information would be given today about the new series that will debut this August. Well now we know who the project will be starring, which is no surprise though.

The First X-Men will be a new series that revolves around before Professor X founded his X-Men that can be described as " the X-Men before the X-Men," which was described by artist Neal Adams.


It's not for sure when exactly The First X-Men takes place, but it is for sure takes place before Professor X's X-men and during his younger years (it is not known whether or not it will be in his teens or younger). At this time though, mutants are starting to appear and they are going to need protection, and that somebody is going to be the one and only first X-Men, Wolverine. Wolverine will team up with Sabertooth and tries to get Charles Xavier to protect the mutants instead.


Magneto will also be in the series, his role is not currently known but a cover image suggests that he is on par with Wolverine and his team. 


The villain for the First X-Men will be somebody going by the name "Virus". No other information was given about him except for his name.


The First X-Men will be out sometime this August with artist Neal Adams and writer Cristos Gage.

The First X-Men Teaser Image

Today Marvel has teased a new and upcoming X-Men related comic titles "The First X-Men".

The teaser image is in black and white and has the words "The First X-Men" in the center with 3D text with "August" underneath it. So whatever Marvel has planned for this First X-Men thing, we are to see it this August. Marvel has announced though that more information will be released this Monday at 5 pm Eastern Time.

If this is a new ongoing series then this will be about the 13th X-Men related series along with Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, Astonishing X-Men, Wolverine and the X-Men, X-Men Legacy, X-Factor, New Mutants, Xtreme X-Men, Wolverine, Generation Hope and Gambit.

Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 Review

I've been indifferent about Avengers vs X-Men ever since I've heard about it, just because Marvel is going crazy with their events and the fact that Fear Itself ended badly along with Avengers vs X-Men #0 being weak. After reading the first issue of Avengers vs X-Men my thoughts on the event might have to be rethought.

The Phoenix is returning and Hope is the vessel in which it will be going into, every mutant knows this, but not everyone else, not until Nova (unknown if it is Richard Rider or not at the moment) comes crashing to Earth and warns the Avengers that "it is coming". Captain America heads over to Utopia after a flare of Phoenix Force energy surfaces from Hope and demands that Scott hands her over to The Avengers. Scott thinking that the Phoenix is coming back for the rebirth of the mutant race instead of coming to destroy everything and everyone on Earth, he says no to Cap and proceeds to direct a concussive beam towards Cap which then assembles the Avengers to take Hope by force.

Brian Michael Bendis is a hit and miss for me when he writes the Avengers and it's usually easy to distinguish his work, so I was surprised that I was reading something he wrote; there was no "Bendis Speak" or anything else he's known for doing, it was straight forward writing with well done characters.

People have been wondering where does Wolverine stand and I'm liking how he is siding with the Avengers for now. The Phoenix killed Jean Grey, the girl he loved, so of course he's not going to be thrilled with the fact that it's returning and he if he is forced to needing to kill Hope in order to stop the Phoenix, then he will do it, hence why he's never had much contact with her; he doesn't want to become friends with Hope and eventually having to need to kill her.

The art is better than I thought it was going to be, I have never been too fond of John Romita Jr.'s art style; his shading technique makes people look like the have whiskers at time. Also the way he draws faces are weird, especially with face shapes and noses. Knowing that Romita was doing the art I was extremely put down, but after starting to read this issue, I was surprised as well as I was surprised with Bendis, it wasn't as bad as I thought.

All in all Avengers vs. X-Men #1 was a good start off, but it still lacks the excitement factor. The issue was too predictable; that's the problem with this event, I feel like everything is going to be easily predictable and that there isn't going to be something that's going to make me drop my jaw. I think I'm more excited for the fact that Nova is back, sure there's a chance it might not be Rider due to the fact that this Nova looks younger, but I really want to see what they do with him.

X-Treme X-Men

Things are getting extreme at Marvel today for the have released a new teaser image for a possibly X-Men series coming out this July.

The possible new series is being called X-Treme X-Men, and as fans might recall, X-Treme X-Men was an ongoing series back in 2001 which lasted to 2004. X-Treme X-Men had artist Salvador Larroca and Igor Kordey working with writer Chris Claremont for 46 issues until it was replaced with Astonishing X-Men.

More information about X-Treme X-Men will take place this Saturday at 4:00 pm at WonderCon 2012.

Avengers vs. X-Men Round Two Variant Cover Revealed

Avengers Vs. X-Men Is Marvel's Next Event

War is coming in the Marvel Universe, and it's not villain vs heroes. Instead, it will be Avengers vs. X-Men, which will also be the big 2012 event Marvel will hold.

Starting in April, Marvel will be releasing a 12-part-bi-weekly series that deals with the war between mutants and heroes - Avengers Vs. X-Men. The new event will be co-written by the "Architect" writers of Marvel - Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaros, Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction- with art done by Frank Cho, John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert.

This event of course will deal with the feud between Cable and the Avengers in X-Sanction and then it will most likely deal with the "It's Coming" line Marvel has been putting on teaser pictures that relate to the Phoenix.

Things To Come For Uncanny X-Men

With the start of a brand new Uncanny X-Men (I'll try to get a review of it's newly renumbered series sometime tomorrow) things aren't already looking that great for the world's mightiest mutants, and some things are already being planned.

In the end of the first issue of Uncanny X-Men, Marvel has previewed things to come for the mutants on Utopia that involved cheating, Celestials, The Juggernaut and Magneto fighting Psylocke. This series has already started with a bang and I think it will continue to deliver.

X-Men Regenesis Review

X-men Schism was a starting point that would in the end change the X-Men Universe, it put mutants and readers alike in the spotlight in order to choose a side: Wolverine's or Cyclop's. Who would go with who? And that's what Marvel's X-Men Regnesis One Shot was all about. In X-Men Regenesis, Wolverine goes around recruiting mutants to join his newly formed school.

What I really loved in here was Billy Tan's visual representation of Logan's and Cyclop's battle to recruit their friends to their cause. It was a great visual metaphor, but it took me a few pages to realize that Cyclops was the one wearing the lion head. The artwork in whole was great, but I think the artwork for the metaphor was probably the best thing about the comic.

The writing was nice also, it was straight forward and didn't stray at all. Kieron Gillen wanted to tell the story of how the X-Men will take sides and that's what he did, with each character having their own reasons; Colossus stayed on Utopia in fear that his newly acquired powers would put people at risk, Nemesis is staying because an experiment he's working on can't be moved and Prodigy stays due to ideology reasons.There were more characters that gave their reasons, such as Magneto, Rogue, Danger, Moonstar, Avalanche and ect. Even someone who I haven't seen in a long time has taken a side, Toad begged Wolverine to take him as a janitor.

One thing I didn't like about the comic was the lack of Professor Xavier. The only comics I read X-Men related are Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny X-Men and X-Men, so I don't know if he appears in X-Men Legacy or what but the lack of Xavier in the comics disturbs me, I would like to know what side he would have chosen; he could have chosen to stay with the man he personally put in charge or he could go back to teaching mutants how to control their powers. I really wish Gillen could have put Xavier in and give him a voice.

It does seem like Cyclops has the power hitters on his side; he's got Colossus with the power of Cyttorak, Storm, Namor and Magneto (and Emma if you consider her to be on their power level). Wolverine of course has the children of Utopia, since that's why him and Scott got into a brawl in Schism, but he has also gained the trust of Beast and Iceman; I'm pretty content with that. Hopefully this will allow writers to show Iceman more.

I was happy when I saw Storm about to go with Wolverine, but then Scott had to sweet talk her to staying because he doesn't have pure-hearted people backing him up. I was also happy to see Emma ready to leave Scott also, but Gillen had to tease us by making her stay.

I think the events following Schism is going to be great, the X-Men have split up and Marvel is going back to the classic X-Men in which mutants can go to a school to learn how to control their powers, but at the same time, there modern X-Men is still staying in the Marvel Universe; old school vs new school.

Magneto: Not A Hero Preview

Back in August, Marvel announced that Magneto will be staring in his own limited series titled Magneto: Not A Hero. Today, Marvel has released three images from the series to tease us as we wait.

It looks like Magneto will be stirring up some problem, 'cause it looks like he's attacking an anti-mutant protest and it also seems like the Avengers are going to have to step in. Whatever is going on in Magneto's head, we'll find out on November 19th.

The Jean Grey School Of Higher Learning

Mutants need a place to go to learn how to control their powers, co-exist with humans and feel protected and that's what Xavier was trying to do. But ever since Scott took over, it felt like the goal was to make an army of mutants, but that doesn't sit very well for him; that is why Wolverine has made The Jean Grey School of Higher Learning.

In an unexpected move, Wolverine will be opening a school for gifted youngsters to learn to control their newly manifested powers in Wolverine and the X-Men after the events of Schism.

Going from an anti-hero to a headmaster is a complete change for Wolverine, so hopefully Jason Aaron won't do anything too drastic with this change. I really do want to see how this will turn out, but I'm also afraid that Wolverine will be changing. I also want to see where Xavier falls, he's still alive in kicking it, but I'm pretty sure he'll land on Wolverine's side.

Uncanny X-Men #1 And #2 Covers

Marvel has released covers for the upcoming renumbering of Uncanny X-Men for issues #1 and #2. Uncanny X-Men will be going under a renumbering system after the events of Schism and will lead into the new X-Men event, X-Men Regenesis.

Uncanny X-Men #1 will be debuting on November 2 while #2 hits stores November 16 of this year. with Kieron Gillen and Carlos Pacheco grouping together.

X-Men Destiny Launch Trailer

Tomorrow X-Men Destiny will be finally be released, and to celebrate that, Marvel and Activision has released the launch trailer for the game. It's a shame I won't be getting the game tomorrow, but I am definitely getting it next month. Once complaint I have is Magneto's voice, I wish it were Tom Kane's voice.

X-Men Anime To Hit This October

So far, Marvel has released two of its Marvel Anime series, Wolverine and Iron man, on G4. The next Marvel based anime show to blast and claw their way out onto G4 is the ever so loveable X-Men with 12 episodes this fall.

Make sure to watch this adaptation this October 21 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, the X-Men anime looks like it's actually going to be really good. And for you Blade fans, the Blade anime will be released sometime this Winter, so it's not sure if it will be this year or early next year.

The first episode starts off with the X-Men reuniting after the death of an unknown teammate. Professor Xavier calls all members back in order to search for a missing girl in Japan, Hisako Ichiki. Once there, the X-Men faces the U-Men, an anti-mutant group, along with facing the truth behind the missing girl.

Valkyie Takes On The Heroes Of Earth In Fear Itself: The Fearless

Today and yesterday, Marvel has released teaser images for Fear Itself: The Fearless, an unknown Fear Itself tie-in that seems to be focusing on Valkyrie as she takes on the heroes of Earth.

The first one features Valkyrie taking on the Future Foundation with the words "Defeath the FF! Save the world."

Not much is known at the moment, such as, why is Valkyrie taking on the FF? The Thing looks like he is no longer possessed by Angrir.

The other image Marvel released today features, once again, Valkyrie taking on heroes. The heroes in question are Storm and Mirage with words spread out across the pictures saying "Invade Utopia! Save the world."

Valkyrie is definitely the focus of attention in this series, but why is she attacking other heroes? I found an image that relates to the series though. It features Valkyrie and Sin side by side armed with their own weapons. The only thing we know for sure is that the one where Valkyrie takes on the X-Men is to be released on October and Fear Itself: The Fearless #4 & #5 are to be released this December.

X-Men Regenesis Teasers

Marvel has released a few teaser images for the upcoming X-Men Regenesis event. Two of them are of Scott trying to recruit Psylocke and Storm to be on his side. One of Kitty and Colossus looking like they're going to break up, Moonstar kissing Sam and Lauri pointing a gun at an unknown person.

It seems like Psylocke will be spying on Cyclops for Wolverine, most likely. And the reason for Kitty and Colossus breaking up is because of Colossus' new fate as Juggernaut.

Cable's Return In X-Sanction

Yesterday, Marvel released an image relating to the Avengers. It has the Avengers logo with a giant red cross-hair hovering over it with "December 2011" under it.

And today, Marvel has allowed Arune Singh, Tom Brevoort, Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness to speak about the meaning behind the image.

If you can remember back to San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel released an image with a certain X-Men character, it was actually more of a shining red eye and a metallic arm. The image in question was the teaser image for, what was, the upcoming Cable Reborn "Next Big Thing".

Cable will be returning this December to kick ass with extremely over-sized guns no mutant from this time can hold. But he's not going to be fighting any bad guys, it seems like he's going straight for the heroes, specifically the Avengers.

This new story line changed from Cable Reborn to X-Sanction. Other than the title and who Cable will be going against, nothing much was revealed; Marvel is, of course, keeping their mouth shut on this one. It's going to be an interesting event though, the Avengers and Mutant kind don't interact very much except for Wolverine. So seeing Cable go against Wolverine and his fellow Avengers is going to be a nice treat.

X-Men Regenesis Covers Revealed

All those Regenesis covers that Marvel has been slowly releasing are now fully complete with all characters shown. And one surprised the hell out of me with one character being on a team.
 

The Gold team will consist of the Uncanny X-Force minus Angel but gaining Nightcrawler (AoA), Beast and Kitty will be joining Wolverine's X-Men as Rogue and Gambit are still X-Men Legacy with X-Factor staying the same (by the looks of it at least, I don't read X-Factor but I know some of the characters).

The Blue team is going to be showcasing Hope's team without Idie but with Sebastian Shaw. The new X-Men team will consist of Psylocke (who's on the Uncanny X-Force), Jubilee, Domino, Storm and Warpath who we have not seen for awhile. Now, the new Uncanny X-Men team is what surprised me the most, you've got Emma Frost, Magneto, Juggernaut/Colossus, Danger, someone who I believe to be Colossus' sister and Cyclops. Marvel has been hinting that something is going to happen to Cyclops after/during Schism, but it looks like they completely were yanking our chain; I was not expecting him to be there at all.

You will have to wait two more month before X-Men Regenesis kicks off and wait till January for it to be complete.

Today is a big list for comic readers; I'm going to be getting a lot of things from both DC and Marvel. I think I'm going to enjoy the New 52's lineup this week, and I can't wait to see what they've done for Static Shock; I mainly watched the cartoon, so I don't' really know how different or the same his cartoon counterpart is compared to the comic. The one comic I'm more excited to see out of all of the comics released today is Thor: Heaven and Earth. That comic is amazing, never would I think I can find a comic that like that; Paul Jenkins is doing an amazing job.

Enjoy your comics for the next week, I know I will tomorrow when I'm going to be stuck at school for most of the day. Luckily The Walking Dead has been keeping me entertained.

X-Men Destiny Box Art Revealed

Marvel has released the box art for their upcoming X-Men: Destiny video games. Along with the box art, Marvel has also released a few screenshots also.

X-Men: Destiny will be coming out on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS on September 27th.
