Kevin Feige On Future Plans For Marvel Movies

April 13, 2012 0 comments

After Marvel releases the Avengers, what else are they planning with their movies? We know that there is going to be a Captain America 2, Thor 2 and an Iron Man 3 but what about the Hulk?

In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, talks about what they have already planned in the future for their movies.

  • [Feige has] seen an unfinished version of The Amazing Spider-Man and says it is excellent and should quiet concerns over the idea of rebooting the franchise.
  • They have an option for Whedon to direct The Avengers 2 when and if the time comes.
  • There are currently no plans to do a new Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo.
  • Iron Man 3 starts filming in five weeks in North Carolina.
  • When approaching Iron Man 3, their gut instinct was to not make it be a pseudo-Avengers 2.  It’s a full-on Tony Stark movie.
  • Iron Man 3 is inspired by the first half of Iron Man 1 in that they’re metaphorically putting Tony back in the cave.  He’s stripped of everything, back against a wall, and has nothing but his intelligence to get him out.
  • Filming on Thor 2 begins in three months in London and it picks up where the first film left off in terms of Jane and Oden.
  • Thor 2 also addresses what’s been happening in the nine realms with the Asgardians unable to use the Bifrost.
  • Loki has a part in Thor 2, but there will be a different, big villain.
  • The crux of Thor 2 is continuing the dynamic between Thor and Jane, as well as the relationship between Thor and Odin.
  • Feige says there are no plans for Marvel and Pixar to team up on a feature.
  • Creative talks have been progressing for years between Marvel and Disney about possibly doing a Marvel property as an animated film.
  • Edgar Wright did not film something for Marvel recently, but Feige says to pay attention to Wright’s tweets in the coming months “and that might change.”
  • They’re still figuring out how much period flashbacks to include in Captain America 2.
  • The primary story of Captain America 2 will be Steve Rogers figuring out his place in the world. For the time-being, he’ll be staying with S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • They should announce by Comic-Con or before what’s coming out in May 2014.
  • Zak Penn did not write a Doctor Strange movie.
  • Feige says, “depending on what Edgar Wright films for us” circumstances could possibly force them to make three films in one year.

So what will be announced this year to be coming out in May 2014? Could it be either Iron Man 3, Thor 2 or Captain America? Or could it possibly be one of those rumored movies like Ant-Man, Black Panther, Dr. Strange or Guardians of the Galxy?

Theaters Offering Awesome 3D Glasses For The Avengers

January 30, 2012 0 comments

Seeing movies in 3D are pretty expensive, movie theaters should offer something to definitely make the extra cash worth it. Luckily some theaters will be offering some pretty cool 3D glasses for The Avengers.

Special 3D glasses will be given out at participating theaters, that resembles four of the Avengers in a stylish way, as you can choose to sport Iron Man, Thor, Hulk or Captain America. The glasses are going to cost you an additional $5 to your regular ticket price, but they might be actually worth it.

Cobie Smulders Might Have Spoiled The Avengers

December 6, 2011 1 comments

It seems like Cobie Smulders, who is portraying Maria Hill in the upcoming Avengers film, might have just released a major spoiler during an interview with Vulture.

In the interview, Vulture asked, "You’re not a superhero in the movie, but you do have sick costumes?”

Smulders replies by saying, “I do. They’re very sleek, and very leather. And she has superpowers and is hyperintelligent; a very nice, fine woman who has all the answers.”

If you don't know what the spoiler was, then I'll inform you; Maria Hill is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who contains abilities that any human can obtain through harsh and extreme training, she does not have any super human powers at all, so what does she mean when she says she "has superpowers"?

IMDB listed Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill and Anelle a couple of months ago. Anelle, also Princess Anelle, who is a Skrull princess. If Maria Hill is suppose to be a Skrull in the movies, then it also connects with the rumors of the Skrulls being the unknown enemy that the Avengers will be facing.

Of course this is just speculation, but the connections make sense...or it just might be me really wanting the Skrulls to be in the movie.

Patty Jenkins No Longer To Direct Thor 2

Back in October, Marvel announced that Patty Jenkins was on board for directing Thor 2, but now, Patty Jenkins has left Marvel Studios due to creative differences. Marvel will have to find a director fast if they want to meet their November 15, 2013 release date; I'm sure it won't be too much of a problem, but you never know.

Iron Man 3 To Kick Off Avengers 2

October 17, 2011 0 comments

At the New York Comic Con, Marvel announced that there will be in fact an Avengers 2 and that Iron Man 3 will be the movie to kick it off.

Kevin Feige, film producer at Marvel Studios, has stated that Iron Man 3 will be the movie to kick of the next Avengers initiative. He has also confirmed that Iron man 3 will be directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang).

Is this is the case, then we won't be seeing an Avengers 2 for a few more years; Iron Man 3 is to be scheduled for a May 2013 release, so we most likely won't see it until 2014. And as make sure you wait till the end of The Avengers to see a special teaser trailer for Iron Man 3.

Disney, Marvel Studios Director Kevin Feige and the stars of the upcoming Avengers film gathered at the the D23 expo to promote the summer flick for thousands of fans with a screening of one scene from the movie.

Avengers Assemble!

SPOILERS AHEAD

The scene starts off in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier with an interrogation between Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who is imprisoned in a hi-tech glass chamber. However Loki now sports longer hair and different a gold and green costume as he did in Thor (All characters will have new duds in Avengers to make costuming more interesting)

Fury warns Loki if he tries to escape he'll plummit 30,000 feet to his death, unafraid he replies that the chamber he was inside was meant for someone else (the Hulk). He then turns to a surveillance camera, acknowleding the others on this ship (Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Bruce Banner) Loki teases Fury how much it must hurt to have the Tesseract (cosmic cube) and to what true power is (meaning himself)

The footage then cuts to several action sequences of the Avengers then to a scene of Tony Stark dressed in a Black Sabbath shirt making himself a drink as he talks to Loki. Attempting to scare him, Stark runs down a list of people on his side; Two mater assassins (Hawkeye and Widow) a demigod (Thor) and a living legend (Capt America) To which Loki replies "We have an army". Tony takes a sip of his drink and says "We have a Hulk" the cuts to a close-up of the Incredible Hulk Roaring then the scene ends.

END OF SPOILERS

Robert Downey Jr. A.K.A. Tony Stark A.K.A. Iron Man

As amazing as the preview was to the audience Marvel DID NOT reveal the two mystery movies slated for 2014. To fans disappointment. (One of them most likely to the long awaited Deadpool movie ;-;)

To soften the blow, Robert Downey Jr. stepped onstage and asked to replay the preview for the cast of the Avengers, something the whole crowd cheered for. Well played Mr. Stark.

More info on the Avengers movie to arrive in the near future.

Dr. Strange Movie Is One Step Closer

August 4, 2011 0 comments

Supposedly, today, Thomas Donelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the screen writers for Conan: The Barbarian has just turned in a script to Marvel Studios for a Dr. Strange movie in an attempt to expand the Marvel Universe on the big screen. This isn't for sure confirmed though, it's just a minor rumor going around at the moment, but it most likely is true. If this rumor is true, expect a release of the Sorcerer Supreme movie sometime in 2013

Thor 2 in 2013

June 30, 2011 0 comments

Disney announced that Marvel Studios will be doing a second film for Thor. Along with the announcement of Thor 2, Iron Man 3 will have a release date aiming at May 3, 2013. Of course Chris Hemsworth will be returning to portray the God of Thunder, but Kenneth Branagh won't be returning to direct; July 26, 2013 is the planned release date for Thor 2.

We're facing many different movies based off of Marvel's creations - The Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor 2 and Iron Man 3. I might be missing one or two, those are just from the top of my head, but either way I'm stoked for all of them.

More Marvel Movies On Their Way?

April 23, 2011 0 comments

In a recent interview with Kevin Feige (Film producer and the President of Production at Marvel Studios) states this:

"Thor will go off into a new adventure, and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own. We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film — Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. —all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films. And, we’ve got a lot of other characters we’re prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined."

So after the Avengers movie, there will be a Thor 2 and a Captain America 2. Along with a Black Widow, Hawkeye (will we see Mockingbird?) and a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie. But that's not even all of it, Feige just pretty much announced a martial arts movie (Iron Fist with maybe a Luke Cage cameo) or could it be a better DareDevil movie? There's a "cosmic space fantasies" section also, so that means that the Marvel Cosmic world will see the big screen. I hope that it';s either Nova or Guardians of the Galaxy. Hell, I would love a Silver Surfer one also. And there's also a confirmed Dr. Strange movie also.

I'm totally hyped for this, especially the Cosmic movies, they are going to be amazing. But I'm not that excited for a Black Widow or S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, but I'm sure it will bring in more fans for Marvel. Either way, this is a big move for Marvel Studios.
