Kazuo Hirai Says No PlayStation 4 Information At E3

A few days ago MCV was convinced that Microsoft and Sony was going to announce new consoles at E3 this year alongside the Wii U. Well today Kazuo Hirai, Representative Corporate Executive Officer and Executive Deputy President of Sony, put half of that rumor to rest.

Hirai has reported that there are no plans for Sony to release a console anytime soon.

“I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that," says Hirai at the Consumer Electronic Show.

There you have it, Sony will not be releasing any information about a console this year, but Microsoft is still uncounted for for their rumored console.

Live Action Star Wars Finally Given A Name - Star Wars: Underwold

January 10, 2012 0 comments

For quite some time, a Star Wars live action TV series has been planned (when I say quite some time I mean for a few years). At first I was afraid that the whole idea was canned, but now today we have more information about the project that is in current development still.

IGN was able to have a talk with Rick McCallum, producer of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and Star Wars: Trilogy Special Edition, where he explains that the series is on hold but a working title has been announced - Star Wars: Underworld.

Budget has been a major role in which why the live action version has not been released yet, McCallum explains how LucasFilms has to spend a lot of money for weekly one hour episodes as much as they did for each film.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier won't be coming out until May 22 in North America and in Europe, May 24, announced Ubisoft today. There will be a beta for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 though with a PC beta version on it's way, yes, Ubisoft is bringing Ghost Recon Future Soldier onto the PC.

Originally Ghost Recon Future Soldier has a March 6 release date, but it is now being pushed back due to Ubisoft wanting players to have a more enjoyable experience with the game.

Ubisoft's decision not to allow the game on the PC was due to them believing that the game would be pirated anyways, so they saw no reason to put Future Soldier onto the PC.

For a more information, watch the apology video Ubisoft posted on Youtube.

With id Software currently developing Doom 4, some employes were unfortunately let go due to "standard business practice", but at the same time they are still recruiting and hiring developers.

Here is Bethesda's statement on the layoffs:

As part of its standard business practice, id regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio. As part of that process, some id employees were recently let go.
Id is still recruiting and hiring qualified developers, and development work on future id titles continues unabated.

You certainly heard me right, Blizzard has announced that they will be hiring developers for the console version of their long-awaited sequel to the Diablo series. Community Director Micah Whipple made the announcement via twitter.

"Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project."

And Mosqueira also tweeted that Blizzard is also hiring designers for the console development team.

"Are you a game designer? Do you love Diablo? What about Diablo on console? If so we're looking for you..."

No specific consoles were announced or the long awaited release date. It's gonna be interesting how the console version will be like.

Kinect For Windows Comes Out Next Month

January 9, 2012 0 comments

Microsoft has announced that they will be allowing Kinects to work on Windows starting February 1, but you won't be using the Kinect device just for video games.

Third party companies are jumping on board with the Kinect for Windows that will allow the camera to see objects as close as 50 centimeters without a loss of accuracy or precision. Kinect for Windows also gives customers a source development kit, which is needed in order for the Kinect to Windows to run on PCs, in order to do some nifty little things since the main focus is commercial development.

As for a price, the Kinect for Windows will be costing you $249.99, which is a bit more than Kinect for the Xbox 360.

Namco Forced to Pull Offensive Advertisement

Soul Calibur is famously known for starring voluptuous women wearing very revealing armor, and Namco likes to embrace this feature while also poking fun at it with this poster featuring Ivy's exposed cleavage with the phrase "Go big or go home" written in Japanese.

While this advertisment only made it in Japan, it still caused some eyebrows to raise. But it's nothing compared to their second advertisement, which was force to be pulled. The new poster featured a shot of Voldo's Codpiece with "Curious?" written in Japanese.

Namco Bandai, had this posted on their facebook page earlier today but was pulled shortly due to a massive amount of complaints for the image. Honestly, Ivy's image showed a lot more than just some spiky banana hammock. Here's hoping that their next one will be even edgier.
