Bioware Announces Dragon Age III

September 17, 2012 0 comments

For those who've been waiting, wait no longer because Bioware has officially announced Dragon Age III: Inquisition.

This is what Aaryn Flynn, Manager for Bioware Edmonton and Montreal had to say about Dragon Age III's development, “The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now. We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.” The game will be using a whole new RPG engine that will uses DICE's new Frostbite 2 technology engine as a basis. In other good news, Bioware will also be using the exact same team that has worked on the entire Dragon Age franchise since Origins. The game is slated for a late 2013 launch and is expected to be on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 (not officially announced), there could also be a chance that it will be released on Wii U. Wouldn't be surprised since Mass Effect 3 will be a Wii U launch title later this year. Stay tuned for more info.

Mass Effect 3 getting SIngle Player DLC (And Wii U News)

August 2, 2012 0 comments

If you've been tired of all the new Multiplayer DLC for Mass Effect then you'll be happy to know that the rumored DLC titled Leviathan is completely true.

The story of "Leviathan" takes place during the events of Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard investigates the origin of the Reapers creation as well as finding Leviathan, a supposed rouge Reaper that has indoctrinated a small mining company.

The DLC pack will also let players unlock the raider shotgun (previously exclusive to origin) and the Argus assault rifle (Gamestop Pre-Order). The pack is expected to be released later this summer for 10 dollars on PSN and Origin and 800 MS points On Live. Bioware has also released a new trailer for the DLC too.

A new FireFight pack will also be released August 7th for 2 dollars on Live, PSN and PC that contains 7 new weapons to use in single player. The weapons haven't been revealed yet except for an SMG that was shown in the screenshot below.

And lastly, Bioware and EA has announced that Mass Effect 3 will be a Wii U launch title, while it seems like a gift to future Wii U owners, it seems like they'd be left out of the loop without having both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Bioware has solved that problem by including an interactive comic that recaps the events of the First 2 games as well as the Extended cut DLC. The Wii U version will integrate new controls using the Wii U's touch screen to make navigation and commanding your squad much easier.

Gears of War 3 "Forces of Nature" Unveiled

February 17, 2012 0 comments

If you missed Spike's episode of GT.TV, Epic Game's Director Rod Fergusson revealed info on the final map pack for Gears of War 3 "Forces of Nature"

This pack will feature 5 maps, each with it's own "nature" based theme, 4 Character Models, 7 weapon skins, achievements a returning game mode and a very special Easter Egg for each map. Here are the details.

Aftermath
A former Government park that was hit by a tsunami, During the match there will be several earthquakes that will make it hard to aim, as well as some flooding that will cause some splashing, making it difficult to sneak up on enemies.

Artillery

What seems like a quiet abandoned military base, will "shock" you when a mighty lightning storm kicks up, then causing a mighty tornado that will kick up loads of dust and debris, blurring your vision but also your foes as well.

Cove

The Stranded took over this port after the locust invasion. There's lots of open spaces and clear shots, but the map is clouded by a dense fog that will make things harder to see from the distance. The sniper nest is a great spot but you'll have to trust your feelings for those long distance targets.

Jacinto

Returning from Gears of War 2, this was one of of my favorite maps. Once the last shining beacon of Sera's hope, The Coalition sunk this city to flood the locust hollow putting an end to the war for good, but it didn't. Things will only get worse as the map's rainstorm picks up and blinds everyone on the map. Keep you Gnasher equipped when it starts pouring.

Raven Down

A fan favorite from Gears of War, this is the smallest map in the series' history. Now returning with a chilly snow storm. Occasionally the winds will pick up impairing your vision for a while, which shouldn't be a problem considering how small this map is.

This Pack will have four new characters. Sadly. three of them are just "limited edition" recolors from Pre-Order Character Skins.

-Commando Dom (Limited Edition)
-Mechanic Baird (Limited Edition)
-Savage Grenadier Elite (Limited Edition)
-Savage Hunter

Epic made a big boo-boo with the last DLC by showing the wrong image of the Savage Marauder and left players confused when we got to guy above (3rd to the left) This is the real Savage Hunter.

Brought back by popular demand is the game mode guardian from the first two. Very Similar mode to the new Capture the Leader, One person is randomly assigned the leader (They will be Myrrah or Prescott for Locust and COG respectively). The goal of this game is to kill the enemy teams leader then the remainder of the squad. The leaders team will have infinite re-spawns until the leader is killed, then they're kaput.

This map will feature five new weapon skins ready to use, however 2 skins, which was created by the Gears community, must be unlocked through the DLC. While they haven't showed anything yet, I'm curious to see the community created ones.

For the final part of this DLC, Epic has hidden "Elemental Cleavers" on each map that can be found on Horde and Beast Mode. Each cleaver has an elemental effect including one that stirs up a blizzard and an immulsion one that will explode on impact causing an area of affect. Finding all these weapons and getting 25 kills with each of them will unlock the achievement "Elemental".

Speaking of Achievements, this DLC will have 10 new achievements worth a total of 250 Gamerscore. However non of them has been revealed yet except for the one I mentioned above.

While it's not what I was expecting, I'm glad to see Epic really listened to their fans for this one, especially since this will be the last pack available for free for season pass holders. The pack will be released on March 27th for 800 MS points to those without the Season Pass.

Another thing I should point out this will be the last map pack Epic will be releasing for Gears of War 3, good to get them all out before too many people lose interest. However this wont be the last piece of downloadable content they'll be making for the game, Chances are they are also planning to have more campaign DLC featuring Gears 2 baddie Skorge (He was confirmed to be a DLC Character a while ago) but nothing is set in stone.

Assassin's Creed III Confirmed for 2012

While it seemed pretty obvious Ubisoft had planned to release another Assassin's Creed Game to fit their 2012 "End of the World" story this year, but their confirmation of the new title may surprise you.

While the publisher only confirmed that the game be released October 30th 2012, Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillermot had some more to say about the game.

"We will push the title a lot because it's a fantastic product that the team has been working for three years, what we have seen is just fabulous."

Three Years in development. While I've really enjoyed Brotherhood and Revelations it always worried me that this would mean no time for proper development for "III", just adding some new tweaks like they did the other two rather than making a whole new experience. However this kind of news was a real sigh of relief, even though I've always had faith in Ubisoft. So you heard it, Assassin's Creed III will be out on October 30th this year. Can't wait to play it.

January 19, 2012 0 comments

Capcom has announced today that Resident Evil 6 will be coming out this November as it is currently still in development.

Resident Evil 6 focuses around Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and new characters that are unknown at this time, but each character has "own unique perspective and involvement, in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale."

As for the synopsis of the game, here it is:

It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision.
At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack.  With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

Resident Evil 6 will be released on November 20, 2012 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A PC version of the game will come out eventually, a date just hasn't been released yet.

Skyrim and Fenix Rising Review in Progress.

January 18, 2012 0 comments

Hey Guys, I haven't been doing much posts lately, Just mainly because I've been busy with work, school and my new addiction that is Skyrim. However I've just beaten the main quest and will be starting my review of 2011's game of the year.

Luckily, I've also re-upped in Gears thanks to the new Fenix Rising DLC pack and have been gaining experience all over again. I'll be doing a review of all the new maps in the pack as well. Hopefully I can find some time this weekend to start them up. Until them thanks for reading!

Sega Announces Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2

December 29, 2011 0 comments

Things have been pretty quiet in the world of gaming, until Sega officially announced the sequel to Sonic's Arcade title, which confirms both Tails and Metal Sonic.

Gamespot was the first to get their hands on some new details concerning the new game in this inerview and has released the games first trailer.

Trailer

Interview

The part I'm probably most excited for is the new physics engine that they will be using. For those who didn't play episode I, while the game was still fun it had one of the WORST physics engines I've ever seen. Sonic felt really slow and clunky and his movement was just plain awkward. Episode 2 will be released sometime in 2012.

Gears of War 3 RAAM's Shadow pack announced.

October 20, 2011 0 comments

The Horde Command Pack hasn't even been released yet, and we are already given word on the second Gears of War 3 DLC. What's so great about this one? It has an all new campaign act! But what makes it different from Delta Squad's final chapter is that it takes place from the very beginning of the Locust-Human war AND it will feature different characters. (some new, some old)

The pack is slated to be released on December 13th for 1200 MS points and will include:

- "RAAM's Shadow" Campaign Act
- Six New Multiplayer characters
Michael Barrick
Lt. Minh Young Kim
Tai Kaliso
Alicia Valera
General RAAM
Unknown (possibly Skorge?)
- the chocolate weapon skin pack
- 250 Gamerscore worth of achievements

While some of the content is being kept under wraps. We are given juicy details on the new RAAM's Shadow act. For those who don't know, RAAM was the once respected general of the locust horde who led the attack on E Day. But was killed by Marcus and Dom in the final act of the first Gears of war game.

The story takes place right after E Day and stars Zeta squad, Led by Michael Barrick, him, Tai Kaliso, Lt. Minh Young Kim and Alicia Valera try to evacuate Ilima City during a wild Kryll Storm. It wont be easy as they will also be fighting RAAM himself.

What makes thing even more interesting is that players will be able to step into the boots of RAAM and control him for part in the campaign. A first time in Gears of War where we play campaign through the locust horde.

One last thing. On November 1st (launch of the horde command pack) EPIC will be making a big announcement concerning Multiplayer so stay tuned.

May The 4th Be With You

May 3, 2011 0 comments

Over at this Star Wars website, there is a countdown going on and will reach 0 tomorrow on "May The 4th Be With You" day that will lead into an announcement. No one is quite sure what the announcement is, but some people are speculating a Blu-ray 3D complete saga movie set. If this is true, then I will be a sucker and buy it, which will probably cost quite a lot for me. But hey, it might not be a movie, it might be a new game or something. Either way, we'll find out tomorrow.
