PSN Back In Action

May 15, 2011 0 comments

Everyone can finally join in hands and sing a merry tune, for Sony has been able to bring up the PSN and their services. We got an announcement (besides parts of Asia and Japan) saying:

"The first phase of restored services for these countries and regions will include:
  • Sign-in for PlayStation®Network and Qriocity services, including the resetting of passwords
  • Restoration of online game-play across PS3 and PSP
  • Playback rental video content, if within rental period, of PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service on PS3, PSP and MediaGo
  • Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity, for current subscribers, on PS3 and PC
  • Access to 3rd party services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and MLB.tv
  •  'Friends' category on PS3, including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc
  • PlayStation Home"
Along with another announcement about their new security:

"The company has made considerable enhancements to the data security, including updating and adding advanced security technologies, additional software monitoring and penetration and vulnerability testing, and increased levels of encryption and additional firewalls.  The company also added a variety of other measures to the network infrastructure including an early-warning system for unusual activity patterns that could signal an attempt to compromise the network."

After a near month of PSN being down, it is finally back up. Now let's hope this new security doesn't get attacked.

In other PSN related news though, it is rumored that the attack on Sony was through a rented Amazon server. Not much is said about it, but there is an investigation going on at the moment.

NBC Passes Wonder Woman

May 14, 2011 0 comments

It seems like Adrianne Palicki won't be playing Wonder Woman on T.V. anymore; NBC has decided to pass the Wonder Woman reboot. But it was rumored that the pilot will be released one way or another, I am not too entirely sure who would watch it in the first place.

I'm not too shocked that this got canned before it was even able to air on television.

    Another Attack For Sony?

It is rumored that a third attack will take place this weekend against Sony's website, which can lead to more stolen credit card information and/or regular information. This rumor comes from Erica Ogg, a CNET writer. Even if this is a rumor, Sony should not take it light heatedly, and I hope they are ready for this blow. If you want to find out more, visit Erica Ogg's article on CNET about it.

    Fear Itself 2 Review

Holy crap, if I thought Fear Itself #1 was amazing, then my mind was not prepared for Fear Itself #2. This event is getting better and better so far and I cannot wait for all the other Fear Itself arcs to come out. The Cocoa Pebbles I was eating at 1:30 in the morning almost fell out of my mouth as my jaw dropped in the second issue of Fear Itself and Fear Itself: Spider-Man.

Let me start off with Fear Itself #2, we got to finally find out who the Worthy are in this issue. Think of them as the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse, but there are 8 of them with magic hammers under the control of the Serpent King, who is an enemy of Odin. If he's an enemy of Odin, then you know you have a powerful bastard on your hands. Odin led the Asgardians back to their realm of Asgard, leaving Midgard to fend for itself as the Serpent King unleashes fear, all while Odin is dragging Thor in chains. Thor wants to stay and protect Midgard and he accuses Odin of being a coward. Not this doesn't make Odin happy, no one accuses the All-Father of being a coward, so he chains Thor and locks him up.

The whole issue had such an intense atmosphere, and revolves around lesser known characters; such as Titania and Absorbing Man. But there was action on every panel; the Juggernaut and Hulk got turned into a Worthy, thus being enslaved by these magical Hammers and now serve the Serpent King. I got chills from it all, it was extremely well done, Matt Fraction is doing a superb job on this.

Even Chris Yost is doing excellent in this event, and it shows in Fear Itself: Spider-Man. Here, Spider-Man is webbing through New York saving the fine citizens of New York during this fear storm. He isn't even making him usual jokes this time, he's 100% serious as he fears that Aunt May is hurt or dead.

Fear Itself is becoming extremely promising, and looks like it will be one of the top events Marvel has done. I cannot wait to see who else is going to be deemed as a Worthy, I'll be waiting diligently for the 3rd issue to come out.

    Star Wars on Blu-Ray

    May 4, 2011 0 comments

The big Star Wars news from yesterday has been announced today. As everyone pretty much expected, Lucasfilms is releasing the complete Saga on Blu-Ray on September 12 this year that will include 9 discs with the movies and special features.

Once I get enough money, I'll be forced to throw my money at Lucas. Speaking of the price, the price is suppose to be $139.99, but Amazon is selling it for $89.99 right now, saving you $50.

    Today's Comicbook Read

Today Marvel released Fear Itself 2/Spider-Man/The Home Front and Moon Knight. I have been waiting for this moment and will be reading these glorious comics later tonight.

At first I did not realize that Fear Itself came out today, but once I found out, I knew I would be giggling around on my bed reading it along with Moon Knight. I'll be writing a review for all of them possibly tomorrow.

I am hoping that Bendis does a good job on Moon Knight, despite knowing most of his other work. I will have to say though, I did enjoy his work on Ultimate Spider-Man. Either way, the new Moon Knight sounds like it can have some very good potential. Maybe this can beat Charlie Hudson's run on Moon Knight, that will be an extremely hard thing to do though.

    Mass Effect 3 Delayed

BioWare has announced today that Mass Effect 3 will unfortunately have a new release date sometime in 2012. A representative has stated:

"Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations."

At least their reason for a pushed back date is reasonable. I want my Mass Effect 3 to be extremely well done, so I do not mind waiting a little bit longer.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Easter Egg

I just found this video and found it pretty interesting, the new Legend of Zelda game has an easter egg within its theme song. Listen to the whole thing and you'll be able to figure it out.

I will have to say though, I am not a big fan of the theme. It sounds pretty different, but in a bad way. I cannot really put my finger on it, but it is pretty disappointing. I just hope the rest of the music in Skyward Sword isn't like this at all.

May The 4th Be With You

    May 3, 2011 0 comments

Over at this Star Wars website, there is a countdown going on and will reach 0 tomorrow on "May The 4th Be With You" day that will lead into an announcement. No one is quite sure what the announcement is, but some people are speculating a Blu-ray 3D complete saga movie set. If this is true, then I will be a sucker and buy it, which will probably cost quite a lot for me. But hey, it might not be a movie, it might be a new game or something. Either way, we'll find out tomorrow.

    Metro 2033: Last Light

THQ has announced the official name for Metro 2033's sequel; Metro 2033: Last Light. Along with the sequel name, the set release date isn't fully known except for a 2012 release date.

I am highly curious on what the sequel will be about. Metro 2033 was highly enjoyable, so my expectations for Last Light are going to be set pretty high. I still need to get an English copy of the book also, I would love to read the 464 paged beast.

    Sony Hacked...Again

    May 2, 2011 0 comments

Sony has been hacked once again, but it was not their PSN, this time it was Sony Online Entertainment. SOE includes DC Universe, EverQuest, and Star Wars Galaxies along with various Facebook games. They people over at SOE has stated:

    "Dear valued SOE Customers,
We have had to take the SOE service down temporarily. In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday)."

With this attack, another 12,700 credit card numbers have been stolen, but non of them belong to U.S. citizens. 24.6 million users' information was stolen though. If you want more information, you can read more here.

Sony is getting smacked around hard, they better up their security to prevent any more attacks on them.

Portal 2 Price Cut This Week Only

If you head over to Gamestop, you would notice that Portal 2 has had a price cut. The console versions are now $39.99 while the PC version is at $29.99, and Bestbuy is doing the same thing. But Amazon is pushing it and have the consoles going at $34.99 while the PC version is still $29.99.

Not sure why this is exactly happening, but don't let this deal slip by, get it while you have the chance.

    Anaheim Comicon 2011

    May 1, 2011 0 comments

Yesterday, I went to the Anaheim Comicon, and I will have to say that it was amazing and fun. I got to meet some awesome artists and actors. I got to meet Rob Leifeld, who is known for his weird anatomy. Just look at this picture of Captain America he did:

Though, he has gotten better with his drawings, especially with the variant he did for Uncanny X-Force.

I also got to meet Arthur Suydam, the artist behind Marvel Zombies, and got an awesome Moon Knight poster signed by him.

There were a plethora of other artists, a lot of them from web comics I have never heard of. The other major comic artists, I did not know too many of them. Liefeld and Suydam were pretty much the only ones I knew, but I did recognize the art from the other artists.

Artist's Alley was not the only place I stopped by, I got to see some voice actors and actors.  Unfortunately, I only talked to a few for there were long lines to meet most of them. The ones I for sure had to meet though, were the cast from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The first to arrive was Zack Taylor, the Black Power Ranger, and I got to talk to him for a minute. Zack even hit on my girlfriend, I was proud of her. The other Power Rangers were not there while I was there, I left before they got into the building.

By Zack was Herbie Baez, the Green Beetleborg from Beetleborgs.

I chatted with Herbie about this show for a few minutes, but before I was able to talk to him. I got myself a free autograph from Stephen Stanton who voiced the Big Daddy from Bioshock and does the voice of Tarkin from Star Wars: Clone Wars.

Besides meeting many famous people who star strucked me, I went around the shops and bought many things, saw some awesome people in some awesome costumes. My camera was pretty bad and kept messing up, so some of the pictures I took never got captured. Anaheim Comicon was an awesome experience though and I'm glad I went, I am also planning on going to the newly announced L.A. Comicon this September also. I'm going to try to have a Deadpool Pulp costume ready by then.

Here are some pictures from my grand adventure:
